Inexperienced VoG players! Here is an explanation of VoG!

Part 1 First, you really should be level 26. Because every level you are underneath the enemy, you do 20% less damage. So for this first part you have to raise the spire, which is a big pointy rock thingy. So there will be these things called 'sync plates' to activate the spire you must stand inside the sync plates until the ring turns white. But beware! there are these things called 'Praetorians' They're pretty much minotaurs with a fancy name and they also have a yellow health bar. You cannot let the Praetorians in the sync plates. The second they cross over, you lose the sync plate, and spire starts to de-form. After a few minutes of holding the sync plates, the spire is raised. Part 2 Once the spire is raised a beam of light will shoot out of it, opening this door, that door will take you to a huge tunnel area which will take you to the Templar. Before you get to the Templar you will you the first chest. That chest contains ascendant materials. So when you come to the Templar part you will be on this huge ledge that overlooks the area. But do not jump down as soon as you get there. A conflux will spawn in the center of the map, you cannot let too many Vex sacrifice themselves or else you all die. Towards the end of the first conflux part, these things called 'Fanatics' will spawn. They're pretty much headless goblins, but they explode if they get too close to you. So if you kill one they leave this pool of what I like to call 'Germs' if you step into the germs, you will be marked. Now in the center of the map there will be a giant pool of Germ-X, which gets the germs off you, and if you see someone with a red arrow above their head, they're marked so tell them. So after the central conflux a conflux will spawn on the left and on the right. So 3 people go to each. Towards the end of that these things called 'Oracles' will spawn, they're green giant floating blobs. if you don't kill them fast enough, you all die. Once you pass that, you have to defend all 3 confluxes so 2 people go to each, and it's the same for the last parts. Part 3 So after you pass the conflux part and get your rewards, the relic will spawn, the relic is a big shield. So the Templar is pretty much Sekrion but bigger, and his shield surrounds him 360 degrees. To take down his shield, the person with the relic must be supercharged. When you active the supercharge you fire a ball out of the relic to take down his shield. Then your fireteam must shoot him, and if you want to, you can stop him from teleporting by standing in these red rings that shows where he's about to teleport. Oracles also spawn on this part, except the giant pool of Germ-X isn't there. Instead if you get marked by an oracle of a Fanatic the person with the relic has to cleanse everyone by putting up this big bubble and everyone must be inside it to be cleansed. Once you kill the templar this door will open and that takes you to the Gorgon's Labyrinth. Don't worry, it's not really a maze. Part 4 So to get to the Labyrinth you have to jump a long way down, you can survive by double jumping just in time. So a Gorgon is pretty much a glowing white harpy, With no guns. Instead if they look at you, all of you die. So to pass the Gorgons you have to crouch walk and DO NOT run or double jump. So follow the Gorgon(s) and take it really slow. The exit will take you to the jumping puzzle. This jumping puzzle has these huge rocks that disappear and appear every few seconds. When you jump of the last rock you get to this ledge that you walk across. But beware! you get pushed off for some random reason, I don't know why. So you have to double jump across when you see this one square sticking up. Part 5 This is when you enter the Vault of Glass. To summon Atheon you must kill these enemies in the area, and the gate keeper so people can teleport. 3 people in your fireteam teleport and 3 are left in the Vault of Glass. When you get teleported you grab the relic and the other 2 people must take down the Oracles, or else everyone dies. To open the timegate that will allow the ones in the future/past to come back, you must control the sync plate on the opposite side of the timegate they went through. After they come back you get this buff called 'Time's Vengeance' it allows you to do more damage to Atheon and the enemies around you. It lasts 30 seconds. When you are in the timegate, you are marked by the void, which makes your screen start to go black to counter that the person with the relic must cleanse you. Repeat until Atheon dies. Weapons to use For most parts I prefer Auto Rifles, certain Hand Cannons (Fatebringer) and Scout Rifles for primary weapons, because they deal a lot of damage in a short time. For special weapons, Snipers. Definitely, or a strategy to do is to have 3 people with snipers and the other 3 with shotguns. and finally for heavies, Rocket Launchers. Especially if they do Void. They help because unlike LMGs they do splash damage which is really helpful because you don't have to be spot-on with your aim.

After that you have another fanatic wave. Then the oracles will start to spawn( no confluxes at this point ) there are 7 waves of oracles with the first starting at 3 oracles spawning and the last with alot of them spawning ( Watch out for hob goblins that spawn on the edges the map, they are on sniper platforms floating outside the map)
When this happens if the templar is looking your way a detainment shield appears around you, stepping outside will kill you and shooting it with a rocket will kill you, so no jumping and remember to shoot or melee the shield first.
Then your fireteam must shoot him, and if you want to, you can stop him from teleporting by standing in these red rings that shows where he's about to teleport.
If you stop him from teleporting regular minotaurs will spawn, one for every teleport block.
Oracles also spawn on this part, except the giant pool of Germ-X isn't there. Instead if you get marked by an oracle of a Fanatic the person with the relic has to cleanse everyone by putting up this big bubble and everyone must be inside it to be cleansed.
Fanatics do not spawn at this point and only one oracle will spawn at a time so when you see the text appear that states oracles are spawning that means one oracle spawned( For HARD MODE two oracles will spawn) When you first enter the vault there is the CP Gatekeepers(Vex Hydras). Kill the one in the middle then the ones through the portal, left and right side portals. When you kill a portal gatekeeper a relic will spawn. Pick that up and run out of the portal then cleanse( You can cleanse before if you want to). Once one gatekeeper is dead then a conflux spawns in the middle you must defend that until your group can get the other relic into the vault. Once both are outside defend the single conflux for about 20-30 seconds very short time it takes at this point. Yellow praetorians will spawn out of the portals and regular ones will spawn from the staircase. Only minotaurs can sacrifice themselves to the conflux at this point. Once completed then you are at Atheon. Unless they changed how the vault works in the past two weeks this is everything i saw wrong with or important information not in the guide above.

        • The only part that I don't agree with is being level 26. The Preatorians to words the end are level 28, and they will eat a 26 for breakfast.

          • When the first guardians entered the raid it was new and exciting. And I don't have 5 friends that play destiny but I also don't want to sit down and watch hours of you tube videos and read pages of tactics to learn how to do, because I would like to see it fresh and with my own eyes. I don't mind someone saying what to do here and there. The raids seem to be turning into an elitist thing which when it boils down to it, (it's just I have 5 friends so I can do it), and if you haven't got friends then your a noob and not worthy to be in a team.

                • Part 2 Defend the conflict in the middle and don't let the Vex sacrifice themselves. If too many sacrifice you get expunged and all die. Once that is completed the one in the middle will disappear and confluxes will appear on the left and right. After that is finished all 3 confluxes appear. 2 people on each THEN the oracles come. Part 4 You can run just don't double jump. Part 5 To Damon atheon you must kill the gatekeepers. The one in the middle dies then you kill the ones in both portals and once you get both relics you kill the minitaurs that come out of the portal. Don't forget to defend the middle concludes and kill the oracles. (There are multiple ways to get this done) Fixed

                        • You forgot to mention the gatekeeper area. Once you kill the gatekeeper, you have to retrieve the relic from both portals and then defend the conflux that forms in the center.

                        • In the second phase of part 2, where you need to defend 2 of the Confluxes, I really would advise against splitting up 3 to each conflux. The left side is much harder, with more enemies coming from three directions. Imo it is much better to send 2 right, 3 left and 1 person stays around the middle looking mainly to the left. This person can shoot all the enemies coming from middle and left, whilst still being able to help out the right side if it is in trouble. I feel this is the best strategy for this part, and works very well on Hard mode. Lastly, a very useful tip for newer players, is that when fighting Atheon the players that do not get teleported can find out for themselves which gate to open by looking at their radar. There will be a green arrow pointing off into the distance which shows you where you team mates are. Looking towards Atheon, if you imagine the radar is a compass, North East indicates that they are in the right side, and South West indicates left side. This is invaluable at preventing mistakes during the run, especially if things get tense later on. One time my team was doing Hard VOG and Atheon only had a sliver of health left when opened the last timestream. For some reason the team inside called out the wrong portal. My two team mates outside ran to the wrong portal to open it, whereas I looked at my radar and chose correctly. I was constantly being told to get over the other side, but I knew I was correct. That saved what could have been a frustrating wipe...

Awesome! Thanks. I've finally completed the raid for the second time Tuesday night and received VoC after beating Atheon. I do ok, the portals are really what screws me up. I always end up with a black screen stumbling around and for some reason when I try to run through the gate I get bounced back into wherever I tried to leave. They were like" dude your still in Mars",I'm like "wtf I jus ran through the portal." I like it. Been wanting to try it for a while but no one ever wanted me cause I was a hunter and I had 0 experience. I have maxed armor( yes I did IB, no I don't like PVP, but it was something new and the gear looks awesome on my hunter) and ice breaker, gall, truth and a few others. I'm counting down the minutes before I can leave work and head home and beg a group to let me tag along and run the VoG.
