Apologies if this has been done, I couldn't find a poll so I want to put one in. To make it clear this is in response to Bungie's upcoming change to Atheon's teleport ability. The team I've been running with has good skills in the right places. everyone does their part. And strategy gets us through. As many people have already benefited from the initial method through teamwork and strategy not directly exploiting the mechanics. Bungie should take what they've learned and apply it to future raids. However lets consider what the community thinks. EDIT: removed the comment inferring it was not a bug.

  • Personally, I'd prefer if they kept things as they are with Atheon's method of teleporting players. Being able to choose who goes where is extremely convenient and helps the team I play with better coordinate. However, I do get where Bungie's coming from with the change. When I first did the raid, I found it rather odd that we were able to influence who got teleported, and based on what Bungie's has been saying about it, I don't really think that was their intent to begin with. Additionally, I don't really think that changing it will make the last boss more difficult. So a few more people will need to learn how to use the relic, but...that's about it. Being shaken out of your comfort zone of either the inside team or outside team isn't such a bad thing. If you can think on your feet, everyone will do just as well as they did before.

  • All that making Atheon's teleporting random will do is turn the final boss fight from "Set Tactics and Skillful Execution" into "Cluster -blam!- Imminent" with a 99% rage quit rate. Also that damn healing Minotaur and the instant-death hobgoblins making things even worse.

  • I use different gear for different roles, because of the ammo penalty when changing weapons and the timely process it will make the random selection tough. I say don't fix something that isn't broken.

  • I just seen a forum user make a comment as to just have the players marked like the one for the negation so as to know ahead of time to discuss roles and gear swap. They already use that Mark for other things such as the titans blinding effect leading me to belive it will not be hard to implement. Not my idea but thought I would spread it out in the forums in hopes it becomes a thing.

      Provide a third option? Honestly, doesn't matter to me. Both ways make sense and I'm fine with either. If random: everyone has to know what they are doing which I mean I can see there point.. Everyone needs to know all roles. Which its not that hard for any role so eh no big deal. If not random: cool, keep using the same strategies and have a designated portal team. (Probably won't check back here even if people reply to my post so feel free to hate all you guys want.. This game tends to have a lot of that going on everywhere)

    • Random teleporting ruins strategy. Some people are better defending the portals than others. For example, I myself enjoy the offensive team because I use Gunslinger and Aclyophage Symbiote for the 4 shot ability. Perfect for oracles. What if I get switched with a defender Titan for one round? He's out of luck. I'm we could teach everyone to be prepared for teleportation procedure, but it's tedious.

    • Of course people will vote no ... You know...something about human nature and the path of least resistance.... That being said, they did say it was a bug that he does not already teleport randomly. Not sure if that is the truth but I'm guessing they just want it to be harder to clear VoG. Just adapt to it. Its not hard to learn to use the relic and after a half hour to hour of attempts, everyone in your raid group that is capable of learning the encounter ( and not get carried) will learn all the roles. Its not hard...relic carrier, oracle killer, or harpy killer/gate opener. All can be learned in a couple of attempts at doing each one respectively.

    • How does this remove strategy? Will the overall plan to kill Aetheon change? Or will people just need to know the whole fight rather than the job they have been pigeon-holed into so you can get your loot faster. I like this change because it sounds FUN.

          Using specific strengths from different characters in different areas is not exploiting the game mechanics. Would bringing a void weapon be exploiting the mechanics if void burn is on or because the Vex are more susceptible to it? So why would using a strategy that places different characters in positions where there strengths be utilized be "directly exploiting the mechanics"? I don't think you need to back track there to cover yourself. The characters abilities and skill sets were intended to be used to "exploit" weaknesses. Random picking should be on hard mode only, if at all.

        • I don't like the random teleport idea. It's a very crucial and stressful task. A lot of new raiders might end up doing the raid only once because of random roles. It breaks a teams strategy, and slows down the flow of the raid.

          • No it shouldnt be random, this is going to -blam!- the newcomers right in the ass. Inexperianced Raiders wont get into raids really. I hate to be "That guy" But I'm damn sure I wouldnt take someone in there that hasnt had experiance. To fight atheon for 5 hours while they learn.

          • Hell no. Oh hey everyone let's just screw up your whole raid setup. Wait you mean you don't wanna stay outside cause you can't run the relic cause your controller doesn't work right, or you don't have the weapons to kill the oracles, or you are a 26, or (insert reason here). Well RNG and good luck. Just makes the raid like every other loot mechanic, luck not skill. Oh yeah we had the right people Teleport every time thank rngesus.
