Right now in Destiny, the customization for your armour is limited to applying shaders and perks. And this wouldn't be so bad if they weren't all presets. You have to buy or unlock specific colour scheme's, but they aren't nearly as plentiful as you would hope. The Guardian Outfitter in the Tower only sells 4, which don't even rotate? Thus far you can't even get shaders from your factions.
I think this is a mistake, and I'd really love to be able to change my colours freely. I have had the same colour scheme for my multiplayer character in every single game where I can choose my colours and I know a lot of people like this too. Having freedom with changing your characters colour scheme is a very easy way to feel more attached to your character, which is a priority for Bungie in Destiny's world, but one that they have missed.
I propose with the image posted above, to get rid of the shader system and introduce a system where we may visit the Guardian Outfitter in the Tower and pay to change our entire characters colour scheme, or individual pieces of armour, in exchange for glimmer. (I have way too much of the stuff anyways)
Tell me what you think and feel free to add suggestions.

I stopped, loaded up paint, and made this just for the sake of your OP.

As I still can't, with 503 hours on my primary character, get the shader I wanted since day 1, I wholeheartedly support anything that fixes the shitty RNG system.

OH MY GOSH YES YES YES YES

Yes and No..... Its a good idea because it would allow people to change there guardians the way they want and to be more diverse instead of everyone looking the same. But, if you could changed your armor shader then there would be no reason for bungie to reward players with shaders, they would only need one. The point of armor shaders ( in my opinion ) is not so you can color your guardian and be done, its so that you can keep an open mind, try new looks and see which one suits you best. You can either be rewarded with an armor shader and be glad that you got something and give yourself the confidence to strive for more, or you can not be rewarded with one and be mad at bungie for not giving you anything.

Honestly who cares what color you are.
-
A custom shader would be a better way to go, you buy one from a vendor in the tower for say 5 strange coins and then choose which colours you want it to display.
-
Nah, I think shaders are there for a reason.
-
The point of using shaders are like the raid shader: you have completed the raid here is a way to show that. And the point where you say that you cant get shaders from the diffrent factons are fault. At diffrent levels in the factions you get a chance at reciving a shader. for instance dead orbit givea you a chance to get the black shader: thunderstruck or what its called
-
No way, this would completely eliminate earning. The shaders are signs that you've done something and earned it. Chatterwhite is from the raid on normal, it signify you have done the raid. If things like that were taken out, customization wouldn't feel as good.

Been saying this since the beginning. You said it yourself. Bungie made such a big deal about making our characters unique, but just look at any lvl 30. Everyone looks the same. I'd be willing to give the current system a pass if only the damn SHADER VENDOR would, y'know, SELL some. >:( That being said, I would much rather see sliders.

They wont do it... they want shaders in so you have another arbitrary loot item for rng to sort through in a game that is lacking in loot.

Yes please!!!!!! BUMP!!
-
Bump up the volume, dance dance

ALSO GET RID OF THE COLORS THAT DONT CHANGE ON EXOTIC ARMOR!!!!!!!!!
-
I want my Warlock to look just like Silent Bob!
-
It really stinks how exotics aren't affected by shaders. The armentarium would look great with God of war
-
Well we don't have to get rid of the shaders but maybe add this function to make your own custom shader for your character. But over all being able to customize your armor color idea is a fantastic idea.
-
Shadders wouldn't even exist anymore you would make what ever you want of any shadder you found lol
-
Good idea ! The armors are TOO clean. It lacks the ability to add : warpaints, wear, dirt, blood splatter, faction signs....etc.
-
I would love this as personally I don't really love much of the shaders and the ones I do like are nearly impossible to find :(
-
I'd say make it like guild wars 2. Use dyes to color specific parts of armor. Hundreds of dyes. Ranging in rarity depending on the awesomeness of the color or if it has a special effect.

Nice idea

Very cool.
