What would happen if gaming industry policy was applied widespread?

Imagine yourself buying brand new 300hp car straight from a dealer. After one month of driving dealer comes in, says that your car is OP and replaces that 300hp engine with 100hp one without asking you for a permission. Roads are now safer and it's more fair compared to the other cars. Of course you're not going to get any sort of refund or compensation for the loss of power. How do you feel about that? EDIT: Great community guys. Always fighting, never agree to anything. My point was not to criticize Bungie's actions or discuss how right or wrong nerfing is, but rather to point out how world would be like if nerf could be applied widespread, just as the topic name suggests.

Rules/regulations in motorsports like this change all the time. If one team consistently dominated every year using tech no one else had access to, nobody would watch. Instead, the races are mostly decided by skill.

    • That's not even applicable. It's "nerfs" are more like rule changes with sports, like football, hockey etc.. In that case: everybody complains at first then they either stop complaining and get used to it seeing as they can't change, quit on it completely or eventually conclude it's for the better and move on with their lives

        • Apples and oranges. NASCAR has strict rules and regulations to keep races fair. Allowing a select few to use cars or modifications no one else can use defeats the purpose of competition Get over it..

          • Policy? WTF are you talking about? This is the most incoherent train of thought I've come across in a long time. Just stop.

Unfortunately by playing you agree to their terms of use..which no one bears to read " PATCHES AND UPDATES: Bungie may deploy or provide patches, updates, and modifications to the Program that must be installed for you to continue to use the Program. Bungie may update the Program remotely without notifying you, and you hereby grant to Bungie consent to deploy and apply such patches, updates, and modifications. " " The Program is licensed, not sold, for your use. Your license confers no title or ownership in this Program, and should not be construed as a sale of any rights in this Program. This Agreement shall also apply to patches or updates you may obtain for the Program" All in all..if you want to use their game.. You abide by their rules. They don't need permission to change THEIR game
