[POLL] Is the Hunter under-powered?
Not sure if there is another post similar to this but I just want to get this out there. Hunter class is too UP in my opinion. My main reason for saying this is the extreme lack of defense when compared to the warlock or titan.
I really think Bungie could just up the Armor stats a bit more for the Hunter so that it's not such a gap from Titan or Warlock armor levels. In order to be the most effective Hunter in most cases, you have to put your armor at extreme lower levels just to be as offensively powerful as a Titan or Warlock with their setups balanced.
If anyone has suggestions on how I should be setting up either of my subclasses for my Hunter to allow for an equal amount of punch vs defense, I'd appreciate it greatly!
EDIT: I realize the one area the Hunter does shine is with the use of Arc Blade in PvP or Golden Gun in PvE but that is not enough to even the playing field between the Hunter and the other 2 classes.
EDIT 2: It seems people feel that Hunter is at least balanced with the other 2 classes and Bungie may have single handedly put the Hunter class in the worst position of all due to the OP effect of Arc Blade and how that can cause so many people to vote No on my poll just because Hunters piss people off in PvP. This game is not only PvP people and having Arc Blade alone does not balance the Hunter.
EDIT 3: Think about how useless the Hunters are with VoG unless they are in greater numbers. It's just sad that I can be told I should level up a Titan or Warlock to join a raid so I'm not a liability.
FINAL EDIT: I completely take back all of my feelings and thoughts suggesting that the Hunter is underpowered. I have tried the other classes since originally posting this and I have played a TON more with my hunter. I have to say now that I think Hunter is NOT underpowered at all. If anything, maybe it's a wee on the overpowered side - at least compared to my now lvl 30 Titan which I now feel is actually the underpowered one.

5 RepliesThe class is fine, as a whole. Lacks the team-wiping powers of stormtrance and HoS, but has plenty of ways to make up for it. I found shadowshot to be underwhelming, but not underpowered. The exotic gear for hunters is pretty lame though. Sealed ahamkara grasps have had some useful applications, but on the whole, nothing has been particularly exciting in terms of y2 armour.

1 ReplyAs a Hunter I can say that we are fine. Ever try infinite arc blade builds? I have. They work. Ever try to use combustion for Golden Gun? I have. It clears out tons of mobs. Ever use the gunslinger as a precision class for gun play? I have, and it works. Nightstalker. Nuf said.

5 RepliesEdited by Frederick: 12/30/2014 6:05:18 AMOur supers are way too underpowered for PvE. I've seen warlocks nova bomb / Titan FoH a trifecta of majors and come out unscathed. Arc Blade is useless against higher level opponents and Golden Gun needs all three shots to take down one major. If they can tweak that then the hunters will carry their weight even more in PvE. Main reason we are unable to spawn many orbs. Our grenades are also very weak. We don't possess any AoE grenade type nor do we have a one hit kill melee.

2 RepliesAnyone who says Hunters are underpowered basically sucks at being a Hunter. As a Hunter, I don't see why it has been mentioned that Hunters are a "liability". While doing the VoG on hard, it was actually quite pathetic seeing all these warlocks and Titans failing while I went in to solo the Venus portal at the gatekeeper part.... Like someone mentioned before, we don't have self revive or a bubble shield. We have sheer will and determination to stay alive... Or skill. I'm not sure about other fellow hunters, but it seems to me like we provide a crutch to all those who say "spawn orbs with your golden gun to help me(warlock/titan) get my super ready so I don't die) what?? So you want me to risk my life so that you can last longer than I can by using your super? Fûck you, get skills.

Golden Gun is underpowered, as the titan Sunbreaker Super can deal more damage than it, with it's 5-7 hammers. It's like shooting the enemy with a nighthawk. It is in need of a damage buff. Those are literally my only 2 complaints. Other than that? No. They are completely fine.

It's funny how people talk about hunters being useless trash in any activity other than crucible. Apparently over half the community would say that we dont need a buff. Does that mean that we aren't useless trash, or we are useless trash and we actually need a buff? I don't think hunters require a buff so much as a skilled player, just as any other class.

Offensive capabilities like nearly instant reloads, throwing knife. etc. as well as invisibility, agility, etc. more than make up for any perceived lack of defense. My titan and warlock tend to feel much more squishy than my hunter. The best defense is a good offense! Truer words have never been spoken. Some people just don't realize how good hunters actually are, because they don't have a glamorous super. I've always said, hunters take skill to unlock their true potential. Titans and Warlocks I see as crutches for less skilled players. Not everything in this game needs to be easy mode. As for PvP op... -blam!- y'all. I've played all 3 classes. If a hunter get's killed just after popping super, they lose it. Most people I see complaining, are probably running around and using their super as a panic button. Hunter supers take a lot of careful planning to get multiple kills without dieing. Hunters are quite easy to kill when they are in super if you aren't terrible at this game. If you blow donkey nuts, then yah, that hunter is probably gonna take your head off. BUT, I couldn't give a shit about PvP, so nerf away lol

Your final edit won me back. My buddy started as hunter and kept complaining about it being under powered, and id say the same about my warlock. We ended up making the others for fun and it turns out we both thought our original classes were OP again lol. Theyre all balanced, and excell in their own areas.

Hunters need the option to carry 2 grenades, that is all we need.

The [b]only[/b] thing I wish they'd buff on a hunter is giving Golde nGun precision damage. Otherwise take out Dead Eye and put something useful in it's place.

A hunter is all offense and no defense, it doesn't have good armor or great recovery but it can be very stealthy and strike quickly. Arc blades, going invisible to golden gun to throwing knife .

The only thing underpowered about the hunter are his grenades. Ive done VoG hardmode with 3 hunters up to Atheon, at which point one had to switch to warlock for self res, the only way Atheon can be beaten with 3 players.
