Why is "Google" more helpful than Bungie?
Thankfully, an entirely cool bunch of random players on here have helped me through the complicated, time-consuming trawl of the Iron Banner tournament. Those, along with Google, have provided me with far more information about Destiny than the developers. Sorry to sound like a whiner but Y U MAKE NO SENSE?!
I was trying to figure out why the IB stock had not refreshed for the opportunity to buy other things and why I had not seen anyone else get anything IB related as rewards. Not once, in no less than a hundred games. Then, as I was wandering through the pvp, dazed, confused and monotonously repeating the same damn matches over and over again, a buddy said;
"Yeah, you get random IB loot after rank 2."
"How do you know this?" I asked, ensuring I read over the IB Bungie post once again to ensure I had not missed anything.
"I google it." He replied.
Can you PLEASE explain to us what is happening. Can you PLEASE tell us straight if it is NOT a no holds barred match where gear matters.
Please tell us if it is a 7-day-grind-or-bust. Tell us how the loot works. Make it make sense.

It would have been nice if there had been more clarity with regards to loot for IB. Like others, I had to google to find out that loot doesn't drop until level 2 and though I made it to level 3, there was no real reward. The only IB loot I saw dropped in the game was Timur's Lash, which I landed 3 times, despite all the pretty pictures of all the loot we were able to obtain. If the gear is being held back for future events, that's fine but I would have liked to have known this in advance before grinding out for level 3.

Mother effers, if I'd known the loot actually changed after IB rank 2 I'd have tried more. unfortunately due to many network issues and generally not finding consistent players to play IB with I managed to get to rank 1.5 only. Bungievision at it again.

1 ReplyThis is the first game I've ever played that actually needs you to google the story in order to understand or get any sort of story in the game. It's also the first online game that needs you to use outside sources to play with other people online.....

2 RepliesBungie are not very good at communicating with their community. No Bungie presence on the forums, nothing but Deej waffling on during the Weekly Updates without actually giving us AN UPDATE. No information on future events or content. And everytime Bungie responds to us they simply say "We are listening to your feedback" then go dormant for another month.

+1 I am running into this with the app which does not let you manage groups and clans. Much time spent on goggle figuring out why the app does not perform as it should.

I played Iron Banner the first day then stopped. Did not see the point. Knowing this now, i probably stiil wouldn't have played anymore. Sine Bungie lied about gear and levels mattering and no points for losing, i wasn't going to grind to reputation level 3 just to have RNG maybe give me some kind of reward. IB was another useless event not wort playing just like Queen's Wrath.

The only random loot I ever saw was the Timur's Lash hand cannon that dropped twice to me and I saw it drop half a dozen times this sunday to other people. Naive as I was, I struggled to rank 3 today hoping for a care pack or new drops... I got nothing other than the little things available at the vendor. I am quite disappointed with the event.

Similarly annoying is when a company with a website decides to post news on Twitter or Facebook and NOT on their website, not even leaving a hint about it anywhere. Probably some marketing genius' idea to get consumers (not customers, mind you) "more involved with the product" through having to waste more time...

Point is, these are questions that should not have to be asked. Left guessing, because of how freaking vague it all is. Their message? "Grind for these rewards!" Whilst they whisper "Some if em."

2 RepliesI am a level 3 in iron banner rep for my Titan and so is my warlock friend who has been level 3 for days. He got a ship once and Timurs Lash like 6 times. I got Timurs lash once and that's the only IB item I've gotten from an end match roll. I don't think most of the armor they showed off is even available as random loot yet. Anybody with IB armor that wasn't bought from Saladin could prove me wrong but I certainly haven't seen/heard about any.

6 RepliesI did not know that you get random IB drops after level 2. But since the PvP lag compensation is just awful I refuse to play PvP until they've fixed it.

They have multiple websites and multiple forms not on or linked to this one it is just meant to keep a base update on stuff

This black-box development style may work really well when you're trying to protect super-secret IP six months from release, but it's a poke in the eye to people actually trying to play the game. Show and tell, Bungie. Your NDA shouldn't extend to the basic rules and mechanics of the world and our characters. Just showing us on-screen us how much XP we need/get for tasks, kills, and milestones would be a nice place to start ([b]don't stop there[/b]). Whoever told you that sharing this sort of basic detail was going to scare away the punters had their hat on the wrong end of their torso.

The information on all the events so far has been completely lacking, and Bungie seems to be leaving it up to (a) players to find out and hope they tell other players or (b) hoping the beta players tell other players.
