Why i feel Destiny needs an "easy" raid

Wanna know the best thing about the raid? Everything. I don't think i'm alone in the opinion that the Vault Of Glass is the best thing Destiny has to offer, introducing many cool mechanics and forcing you to play smart and coordinate.Now here's the problem. Have you taken a look at the trophy rarities lately? The "Raider" trophy has a rarity of 4,9% which means that only one out of twenty players has actually finished the best piece of content in the game. I know it's designed to be that way and that you only want the most dedicated players to be able to beat the raid, but this is really a missed opportunity here. See all the players on the forums, complaining about the game beeing repetitive and lacking in content? Most of these people have most likely not played the raid yet and won't do so in the future because they think that grinding strikes is all the endgame has to offer. Look at all the casual players who don't have the time to get to level 26. All of these people will never be able to play this awesomely crafted piece of content. But this can be fixed. Just put an "easy mode" in there, make it level 20 and give us worse loot, maybe something on the level of the strike playlists, just to give players a little taste of the true endgame, perhaps motivating them to play until they can do the "true" raid. I know the raid is working just as planned by you guys, but adding an easy mode would definetly make Destiny a better game. EDIT: I'm level 29 and i have beaten the raid several times, even on hard. I am not trying to get this into the game for my own sake, but for the game's sake. I'll gladly discuss if this is a good idea with you guys, but let's do so like adults please.

  • I can respect your opinion on this matter but I must say I disagree. I'm pleased that I have beaten the raid. I'm proud to be a part of the few who have. I like that it's rare. If everyone had it then that takes away from the specialness of it. I understand everyone does not have time to play for hours a day but that just means the have to play more for more days eventually they'll get to the required level and can do it then.

    • I can see what your saying. In my opinion, since this game isn't meant to be hardcore like other mmo's and they knew a lot of players of this game may not have experienced raids before, they should have introduced the concept of raids in the main game with an "easy raid". matchmaker six people, spell the directions out for them in text or cutscenes. Let them get a taste of how this is gonna differ from the straight forward and tactics-less strikes, and tell them there will be other harder raids later on. So at least people would have known what a raid entails and already made the decision if they're gonna level up enough to do it. Just my 2 cents

    • my clan organizes a raid every weekend. I love the challenge! The loot I get gets better every week! But then again, the destiny loot system favors more than others, got a member who's yet to get a legendary or bounty without going to xur.

    • Cant get behind this idea. I like being in the 4.9%. We gamers who are good and who can do some of the impossible, give wwaaaayyyyy to much credit to other gamers. A lot of them are dumb as rocks. Those are the ones complaining about the VoG being to hard. They are the ones who wont shut up and listen. They are the ones who cant figure out the patterns in each "level" of the raid. They are the ones who want to be "heros" and end up dying and becoming a burden. Either you can do the VoG or you can't. Plain and simple. *this excludes those who have a busy life and for those who cant get a raid party. Lack of communication is Bungies fault but there are other sources to find a party.

      • I'm sorry, but level 26 VoG IS easy if your group knows what they're doing. It's only hard if your team doesn't understand the boss strategies, or are a bunch of window lickers.

      • Look, i see where you are coming from - and i respect that - but the only way that would work is if destiny had at least 3 or 4 raids out - and they made just one of them a low level raid, or had a low level option for it - otherwise, it wouldnt be end game content - now, if they had other raids out, sure, i wouldnt care

      • Raids and all content in destiny like i said a long time ago needs to be made so everyone can do them. If raids are so hard that its to hard for MM ppl then make the raid, and all content, easy enough so everyone can do it. Period.

        • I do see why this could be a good idea but I don't think an easy raid should be added. The whole point in the raid is its the end game activity and only the elite players can complete it, if you're a casual gamer then this is still very easily possible but making it easier would just remove the rewarding feeling you get

        • Raids are suppose to be hard in any MMO. They have never been an easy thing to do. If it were easy it would be a strike and not a raid. As for the drops they are random. I got three raid gear pieces this week and ascendant shards last week. Any raid you play always requires teamwork and of course high enough leveled players with good skill. It also takes Patients, time and communication to get through every part.

          • I disagree. In my opinion they need to up the mission and strike designs. Put the same effort and creativity they did into the raid, into the rest of the game. Get rid of "defend the ghost" and "defeat the boss who's the same as everyone else just more shields" gameplay and put in some actual vehicle missions. Leave the raids for the skilled, high level players and give the rest of us a more varied and interesting game to keep jumping into. Not the same mission, different planet.

              I think you can see why people like me have a kind of "despise" towards the community right now. 90% of you idiots in this thread don't even want to listen or even try to accept something that actually is apparent to be a good addon to the game, and something that could be done very easily. That's why when I come to post here, I try to keep every bias out of the post and only post in the direction from a design standpoint that would help to better things. True, I do have my opinions and bias towards these ideas, but in all honesty we need to be catering to the betterment of the game, and when 90%+ of the posts in this thread is just pure negative nonsense with absolutely nothing to contribute, it makes me wish I had a giant "ban" button to remove your filth from these forums. Now that I've settled that, let's actually discuss the idea. I actually think that adding a option to do the Vault of Glass at Level 22 would be more than acceptable as long as it held the following: * Matchmaking would be enabled for the 22 / 26 raid, the 30 raid would be left alone since it requires perfect execution to complete. * The 22 raid would not award any raid loot or exotics in the chests, instead it would offer Legendary Vanguard gear to help you get to 26 to do the 26 version. * The 22 raid would not have a lockout on the loot rewards, but in order to earn more loot from a part, you'd have to fully complete all parts first. This would provide an incentive for higher levels to help their lower leveled counterparts to get through it and have fun, and also prevent the raid from being used as a direct easy farm. * No achievements awarded for these raids. This is why I believe adding a 22 option would benefit everyone. First and foremost, it provides the lower level crowd with not only some additional endgame content to enjoy, but they can also learn the mechanics of the raid before actually getting into a group, so when you're doing your 26/30 runs, they know what to do instead of mindlessly running about. Secondly, since more people can actually do the raid and see how fun it can be, you'd actually increase the number of players actually "wanting" to do the higher leveled versions, so places like LFG, ect. would have large crowds and shorter times to actually get a group together. And finally, with all of this talk about wanting Destiny to be a social game, what better way can you think of to build that notion than by means of a challenging raid experience. This also opens the door for new Vanguard bounties relating to the Vault of Glass, so everyone wins there. So people, before you simply throw your garbage onto these wonderful idea topics, please sit back and think about it from a design perspective and how it would change the entire community. Stop being a selfish idiot and start thinking about what benefits everyone else. Edit: Your replies have proven my point precisely, so I will simply step back and let you complain about why [b]you[/b] won't benefit from it, after all, it's ALL about you in the end, isn't end.

              • I personally think that since this game has a "story campaign" that vault of glass should have a precursor story mode portion you have to do to unlock it. Nothing insane to get through, but a little story for each raid would be nice. I walk into VOG and have no clue why I'm doing it, Destiny lore wise. No immersion at all, just a dude on a coach shooting some shit to get the shit.

                • Agree. Gap between Strikes and Raids is too big. Complaints of repetitiveness and lack of content prove it. There should be more complex Strikes, lower level Raids with matchmaking and weaker rewards, or a whole new mode that fits between Strikes and Raids. Call it Assault, Invasion, or Onslaught, or whatever.

                • I REALLY like this idea. I know this isnt a "full" MMO, but learn from blizzard! They used to have only two difficulties for their raids on WoW. They now have six. Yes, SIX. They want everyone to be able to experience end game content, not just the elite. Unlike blizzard though, I feel like doing the easier raid should be scaled. So..say a level 30 is doing the raid with a level 22. That level 30 should be getting hit at least as hard as the 26 version of the raid while the level 22 should be hit a lot easier. That way you dont have one person carrying the whole raid. It makes everyone participate and do actual mechanics instead of just a tank and spank. And as stated by others before me, gear should be scaled back as well for lesser difficulties.

                    Absolutely agree. Having the best content in the game inaccessible to most people on the basis more of grinding time and being able to coordinate a group of six across a few days of gaming doesn't make sense. I don't care about the rewards. Being unable to do something like this with my Destiny friends, most of whom are busy with family and work, and will probably never get anywhere near the 26+ they need to be tackling the raid, is pretty frustrating. I personally could join a group of strangers online, but a/ that's less rewarding than with actual friends, and b/ they probably never will get to that point. A raid designed for smaller teams, one which requires something like level 21-22, and which is a bit less grueling than the current one, is exactly what this game needs. It doesn't matter if the rewards are less spectacular than the current one - that's not the point. It's that there's a huge chunk of content that's supposed to be fantastic, and most people will never get a chance to see it, even if they want to. I think the biggest loser in the current system is the team that worked on those raids: they deserve to be played and appreciated more widely than the status quo permits.

                      No I don't agree on making the raid easy, that same scenario ruined raids in wow. However matchmaking for raids based on level is a must and it needs to be policed by having a lock out system. E.g you can attempt the raid twice per week after you enter you get locked to the raid( meaning if you quit or leave you only have 1 more try until the next week). This will ensure people think twice about leaving a raid. If someone does leave, the fireteam leader should have an option to bring someone in from the raid que. BTW I have not completed the raid, due to no friends playing game that are high enough or on at same time.

                    • The whole idea is to have a challenge and learn to play with eachother. The first time we did it, it was pretty hard. I admit that. but if you really want something you will get it eventually. It would be nice if people could group up easier instead of having to go to the forums. Im convinced that if a new group looks up the tactics and stuff they can do it.. And after you did hard how easy is normal ;)?
