Destiny: Rise of the Destroyers

Hello everyone, This is my take on a follow up to Destiny's story. Hope you enjoy this short story and I would love to hear your feedback. =====Rise of the Destroyers===== After so many centuries the traveller was finally beginning to heal. But unlike many thought, this was far from an ending to our fight...this was only the beginning. I was called by the Speaker, who said he wanted to meet me at the hangar. Apparently a shard of the Traveller was being held by the Fallen in one of the moons of Saturn, Titan, so he wanted me to gather a group of guardians and take the fight to them. We did not know what was expecting us, so we prepared ourselves for the worst. It would be the first time any of us would set foot on one of the moons of Saturn. They were said to be filled with Fallen and Cabal, and Titan was the home base of the Fallen House of Champions, which was known to be composed of brutal Fallen who despised the other houses, considering themselves higher than the House of Kings. It took us about 3 hours to get there. As we landed we found a garden celestial body, whose forests were thicker than the one's we found in Venus. In the distance we could hear a shooting, from the sound of the bullets hitting shields, we assumed the Cabal and Fallen were fighting each other, so we decided to stay clear of it, and let the Cabal do our job for us. We walked through the forest, fighting Fallen and Cabal alike, until we reached what appeared to be a Fallen Temple, as their ships were seen entering and leaving the building. It was about 100m feet tall and it looked like a pyramid from ancient Egypt. Ghost: I can feel the energy of the traveller there. We're close. Weapons in hand, our Fireteam blasted its way through the Temple. These Fallen were strong and their golden banners would be worth a lot to Master Rahool. As the air started to feel heavier, we knew we were reaching our destination. At the end of the hall we could now see a gigantic golden door with the insignia of the House of Champions. As we opened the door we found a 3 meters tall Fallen Archon with armor which resembled our own sitting in a throne and behind him a Traveller Shard corrupted by the Darkness. We quickly set our sights on him, but suddenly, something unexpected happened. Archon: So these are the famous Guardians from Earth... Ghost: He talks? All the Guardians were surprised by this as no one had ever heard the Fallen speak. Archon: I am Drako, the Champion Archon, first Destroyer and loyal servant to our Dark Lord. I would say you are welcome in my home, but I do wish to lie to someone who will quickly find its way to the grave. With a terrifying roar, the Archon jumped from his throne and used some kind of void barrier to lock us within the room. From out of nowhere we were quickly surrounded by Fallen Dregs and Vandals. The Hunter quickly made mincemeat of the Dregs, as the Titan and I traded blows with the Vandals and Drako. This was our toughest challenge to date; Drako could repel most of our shots and it was taking forever to take him down and as he felt his life close to an end he focused dark energy on his fists and unleashed a void wave that took us down one after the other. As the light started to fade from our eyes, I called upon my last energies. "Fireborn!" - I shouted as air once again filled my lungs. Dashing between the bullets of the Archons shotgun and spamming grenades to clear the room of fallen Vandals, I rushed to revive my allies. We could not let him defeat us, if the Traveller was to be brought back to his full strength we had to win and clear the darkness that surrounded him. As the light once again filled their bodies, I saw the Titan do a double jump that was quickly followed by his Fist of Havoc and the Hunter unleash a blade dance, slashing the enemy over and over again. Following the steps I blinked towards Drako and unleashed a devastating melee attack that ripped his head off. As the body of the Archon hit the floor, the darkness quickly escaped, leaving the traveller shard behind. "What the hell was that? That Fallen was speaking our language." - the hunter asked with a surprised tone. Ghost: The beginning of the darkest era... The Destroyers are coming.... THE END
