On Navy Seals, I had no idea they were trained that hard, they're constantly cold, wet, and miserable! And they only get like 4 hours of sleep during one of the weeks of there training.

One of my friends plans to be one. I think he'll make it too.

God be with him...

But I hope that this will change. Boy I'd like to try just Phase One. Doesn't help that I have a friend who served in the US Navy SEALS during Vietnam, and his son (my friend) is going to be one. I know that he'll make it. He doesn't give up unless he is unconscious.

Odd... I didn't know that females in America weren't allowed in Special forces, I think here in Canada there is a good portion of females in G8 (our special force) and the RCMP (they don't wear all the red and such on job. They are basically more advanced SWAT)

Women CAN go into SWAT, and SWAT snipers, but they cannot go into things like the Secret Service, Infantry, Special Forces. I don't know why they don't let females in. I have only one idea, but that is due to reproductive organs and cysts being able to happen at any time. But if they screen for people like they do for men, then they would get females that will endure through that pain and not give up so easily to the pain. They would only have to change a little bit to let females in, but I think that they should at least give them a try.
-
Yeah like if women can take childbrith, then I bet they can take a lot of pain.
-
Speaking from experiance here, ovarian cysts can be more painful if they rupture. Pain induced unconcsiousness, and then being brought out of that with more pain is no fun. Yet I was stupid enough to insist that I was fine and did not need help walking, or doing anything else for that matter. (the pain lasted for about a full week, and I never have taken pain drugs....until that happend. And I religiously took them.)
-
you should see how delta force is trained i did quite a bit of research on them they are crazy they never quite half way through the obsticle course which is about 50 mile hike one of the guys didnt quit so he had to get his foot cut off
-
I had to backpack 200 miles over the summer in my seventh grade year...it was supposed to make me stop doing drugs and make me good oh and for about three days they leave us alone about a mile from everyone else for three days I did another one when I went to my rehab/therapeutic boarding school and for the solo (three days alone) they also only gave us a bag of peanuts...I caught a live fish and ate it [Edited on 11/23/2004 3:13:39 PM]

I would try that if i could.........
-
thats half the hike and thats just the begining you do it none stop finish in one day or fail then you swim about 5 miles with gear then you have to pass a rigorous obstecoule course with a gun hit every target and thats just to be accepted. after that its a -blam!- load of more pain torture and misury if i was built like that i would do it these people that go in are monsters they can kill you in quite a few diffrent ways without a gun even if you have one
-
The whole thing about women not joining certain organisations is just sexism, and the belief that they cannot handle what is required. I personally disagree with this, but im just aan unimportant guy. Strangley enough many counter terrorist forces are told to target women terrorists first in any hostage situation. This maybe due to them belive them to be a greater threat, as maybe they are more devoteted to the cause (dunno why just my suggestion). Oh and i would never try any tough training for any military organisation. Im a pacifist and a wuss (no the two dont automatically go together, they just concide in me). But still I would try, trying never hurt anyone, except the cat.

cats will kick your ass buddy
-
It is not always about the result, but about the effort it takes to get there. That is why I would try. Don't know until you try. So what if some injury happens.... We all get injured sometime.
-
heh when i read those books was when i decided to stop stoping for pain i went a bit too far and destroyed all the nerves in my right knucle now i can punch a brick wall all day and not feel a thing i had to go to the ER
-
Well, I have two weak (almost completely shot) ankles, two knees that are highly senitive, a back that sometimes has this sharp pain that may not return for months, as well as an elbow that has a scar on it for when I almost skinned it to the bone. I still would try.
-
i have no problems with my body the only thing i would improve would be to gain weight and look better other then that im prety built i go to the gym five times a week and i do two intensive sports that make me train like hell i would try but i dont think im good enough
-
you are in a lot better shape than me. I don't get the chance to go to the gym, and I need to lose about 20 pounds. I used to run cross country and I miss getting out and exersizing...... I know that I am not good enough, I would like to see how far I could get before my mind either quits or my body fails.
-
heh i reached that limit i went unconciouse fun stuff anywho how old are you
-
Megan it sounds like you would want to take the Navy Seals' gym course at my school, but it is only for boys *shrugs shoudlers* no clue why. [Edited on 11/23/2004 4:46:20 PM]

I am a young adult without discolosng my actual age. I woud so like to try that program out. But for me, it is out of the country. My high school only had regular gym class, but for me, that was an adventure due to the jock and preps there. There were acouple of us who had done sports, so it was a constant war you could say between the jocks/preps and the atheletes. Needless to say, the atheletes normally won.
