So I rerolled a Sunsinger, was a Defender..

Titan was the class that appealed to me the most at launch. Got to lvl 26, saw the flaws, decided to switch. The Titan bubble is so broken, bungie shoulda called it the disco dome. Let's not even talk about the melee range. Sunsinger's have more survivibility than the defender and if you think about it, it's really silly. (especially considering the low dmg output the defender has (titan grenades, roflmao?)) But this post isn't about buff this, nerf that. After all, I truly am lvling up my sunsinger. Can't wait to hit 20 to wear these extra awesome SUNBREAKERS! ps. Helm of the Saint-14 is the worst looking piece of exotic gear in this entire game. /rant Edit: Eventually went back to Titan, just cause... For one, it's the manliest class. It's much harder to survive than with a sunsinger, but I rarely choose the easiest path. It's much more useful to a raid team. It's just extra badass punching stuff in the face. Also, the titan flash bangs are enormous in the new raid.

  • Idk the defender is awesome vs atheon bc weapons of light can kill atheon in like 4 rounds if the whole team uses it and it provides more cover after the relic shield vanishes. And it's great bc with two defenders you can keep the templar from teleporting making that situation much easier and getting you the 5th chest. But the striker is very useful vs atheon bc fist of havoc can one hit the minotaurs then turn and pop oracles while the relic holder deals with everything else.

So yesterday, raided with the defender. Everything was fine, until Atheon. As a defender, I lacked a lot of DPS radiance gave me as a sunsinger. The bubble is very awkward during this fight because it can really easily become a huge hindrance. I found myself not using it at all, dying once in a while, wishing I had taken my death cheating war machine instead. Oh well...

  • To me, Titan Defender is more of a support class than the Sunsinger. Originally I though Sunsinger was more of a support class but it turns out most of the skills for Sunsinger are more suited for aggressive players like me. I still prefer Sunsinger for PVE and I'm yet to create and level a Titan to see how they are.

I do play my Titan again to do daily heroics and such. But every time I play in a group, I can't help but feel I'm much more valuable to my team playing as a sunsinger, than I was as a defender. I'll have to say this too: Playing defender is much harder as you need to know exactly when to pop the bubble, without being a hindrance, and (obviously) before you die. Whereas the Sunsinger has a ''Oops!'' button for when things go sour and everyone died. On top of that, it can't even be argued that the Sunsinger does a lot more dps than any defender. Watch this though, soon they will balance out the class. I see much much more warlocks than titan or hunters.

  • I have both level 27 defender and 28 sunsinger honestly I do like my sunsinger more just because I feel like I'm better with him and yeah the gloves are sick looking and a nice pair with thorn as a dps build But my defender is a lot better in skills wise as solar wind and brimstone are completely useless for the most part and the only way sunsinger has extra survival is if your lacking at dodging shots as a defender cause you can rez yourself Defender has A force barrier to me one of the most useful kills ever pair with a shotgun and B saint helm is super useful with armor of light cause your pretty much invincible inside the bubble I've wiped and entire team doing this and balance out defense and offense for weapons of light also really useful for raiding You can also stack force/relentless with blessing of light to which most cases you will usually always have a shield and then mix this with red death this build is the ultimate survival and control on the battlefield build

    • If you can't Defender ur doing it wrong. I have raid and nightfall groups looking for me just because of my OP bubble. It lets u set Up ur own Line of sight for fighting Bosses, can be used to res and shield ppl, can be used to double ur dmg out put. Along with all its amazing utilities its also on a really short CD compared to other suppers. Really great Support Class and DPS if u know what ur doing. Can really turn the tide of a losing fight.

I think the defender is awesome. It's force barrier can potentially make you always have an overshield.

        • At launch, started playing a Voidwalker Warlock and switched to Sunsinger as soon as I hit Level 15. I enjoyed playing both subclasses, but after seeing (at the time) the virutally non-existent Titan community, I decided to play a Titan. They were everything I remembered from Beta, however. At near Light Level 28, playing Defender (I've always played a support/tank class in all rpg-ish type games), unless I'm playing Striker, I feel worthless. The bubble, although has saved my fireteam countless times, it is sometimes a hinderance than it is helpful. After getting Light Beyond Nemesis from an Exotic Engram, my passion to play a Warlock again was re-ignited and since this helmet isn't specific to a specific subclass, I can go back to slinging nova bombs and axion bolts or showing off my wings of flame and tossing grenades again! However, I'm still on the fence regarding which I really want to play more. On one hand, my Titan is already Rank 4 Vanguard, Rank 2 New Monarchy and Rank 17 Cryptarch, while my Warlock is still in the near Rank 2 stages for most faction and low rank with Cryptarch. At this point, ranks are what is making this a tough decision for me. I love both classes. NOTE: not bashing Titans. I love the class, but I do feel they need to do something about Defender.

            • I respect your opinion, it's all really about finding which class fits your play style, then just playing about with skills, gear combos and weapons to use.

            • I have a level 28 titan with maxd out striker/defender and a level 27 voidbringer warlock....I will be levelling up sunsinger now, but I really liked the big voidbomb more than the wings.... I like both the same.

            • Sunbreakers are awfull, i would vote them to be the worst exotic in this game, they make the most awfull grenade we have a little bit less awfull, sure they now last 10 seconds but who in their right mind is gonna sunbathe in them, apart from mobs, that Saints helm ability allows for the defender to stay alive until his bubble collapses, no mob in the game can touch him while its up. I play Sunsinger btw from the start, all our exotics that enhance sunsinger are garbage and just enhance something, as opposed to the titan getting additional effects from his exotics. Even the helmet that starts health recovery when we use a super is incompatible with sunsinger as it is worse then self ressurecting, you get hit mid recovery it stops the regeneration. Though i like the class, i dont like any of our class exotics.

But...people go blind in my titan bubble. Blind. And it is seriously the funniest "wtf" moment to watch. Also, the shield that the bubble gives teammates...lifesaver. I'm not just support, I'm a necessity

              • Wait a sec, defenders get the OHK sticky grenade that homes in on players to kill them. How is their grenade weak? I regularly get kills with that in Crucible, it's just so easy. Granted I usually take to the air, for a downward arc to make it harder for them to dodge, but that is true with just about any explosive normally anyways.

              • Haven't played sunsinger, but saint-14 is hideous. And it's immune to shaders, so it doesn't even match your armor. The blind is too good to pass up though, so defender titans have to walk around looking ridiculous.

              • Who cares what saint14 looks like, its what it does that is just fkn brilliant, no exotic gear for a defender titan is better. I think the mythoclast looks awful yet its the best gun in the game. I like the defender titan for what it is, sunsinger is good in its own way. I dont get why people keep comparing classes when theyre all completely different in playstyle and not comparable in the slightest. Play whatever class you enjoy the most.

                • Hum weird, guess that adds more data to me theory. "I suck" I can not figure out what I am doing wrong, my warlock sucks and it seems like my gear is bad. Damn, I had hoped Titan was better.

                  • I have all 3 classes, I have a level 28 hunter for pvp slaying, a level 26 defender for playing team support fully perked out to create orbs, and a level 25 sunsinger great for solo pve slaying I think all classes are good att doing something its just which one/ones suit your play style. Defender is definitely the best support class and every fire team should have one.
