As frustrating as it is for me to see my friends get loot I'd like to have (and believe me, everyone has something I want, but it's the same for them too), I really don't like the idea of being able to trade gear. It will simply make a game like this not as fun. I really like the prestige of getting something hard to obtain randomly or otherwise.
Now I'm quite the talker so you don't have to read this part, but if you have time, please do. Any creative critiques are welcome.

For example, I'm a huge Borderlands and BL2 fan. When I was playing on my own and getting all my own gear it was fun, but when I started playing online, everyone had the same everything. I would often find people with the exact same set of gear (Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold, Norfleet, Sandhawk, The Sham, etc.) as myself or other players. Why you ask? Call it what you will, copying, trading, duping, it's all the same. It really made the game a little less fun for me.
Let's look at another idea before I start into this. Look at Xûr. He sells some cool stuff yeah? Maybe some things you found after much hard work before he even sold it. Now he's selling the thing you worked hard for and everyone and their mother has it now. Sure it's not a huge deal. I mean he has a fairly limited inventory, and the stuff you found might be better right? Moving on.
If Destiny does this, can you imagine all the people who could spend their extra marks on gear for people who never had to join a faction? How about having someone just raid for you? Why bother doing anything if someone can just hand it to you? Chaos would soon overcome the masses, friends would fight friends, clans would disperse, and Destiny would be... ahem, sorry.
Having fun with friends makes the game fun. Good loot keeps people playing. Don't take it away Bungie.
------- (Optional Reading End) -------
Now my idea of trading, if it were to ever happen to appease the masses would be this.
• Allow open trade for all materials to a set limit (suggested 10 or less per week, for clan mates only, friends only, etc.) just like earning marks. I say materials but really everyone will want Coins, Ascendant Materials and Motes. I know this sounds similar to giving someone gear, but with reasonable limits and restraints, it's more like you're calling for a helping hand in your own goal, and not just being handed a hard sought after item.
• If that doesn't work, maybe a gifting system (and I'm sorry for the comparison but it's all I had) like Diablo 3. When you are playing, and your friends (on your friends list) also play the game, sometimes random gifts just show up after fighting enemies. It asks if you'd like to send it to your friend, or trash it. You can't keep it or see what it is. I really liked this. It didn't happen often, but you knew you were helping them out. They will then have a message in their in-game mailbox saying you sent them a gift. Sounds like a cool job for Kadi 55-30. There was a time constraint and limit to how many you could have, but all the gear you got would be to the level you opened the gift at.
That's all I have at the moment. Destiny is a newborn baby after all. It needs time, love and patience so we can watch it mature and grow into something we can be proud of. Thanks for reading.
