A mother is 21 years older than her child. In exactly 6 years from now, the mother will be exactly 5 times as old as the child.
Where's the father?

Edited by car15: 10/4/2014 9:41:23 PM[b]SOLUTION[/b] Think of it as a mathematical equation. The problem indicates that: M = C + 21 and M + 6 = (C + 6) * 5 Plug (C + 21) in for M. (C + 21)+ 6 = (C + 6) * 5 C + 27 = 5C + 30 -3 = 4C C = -3/4 The child is -3/4 years old. It will be born in 9 months' time. The father has just conceived the child.
