Does anyone understand the reasoning behind why bungie has made it that engrams once decrypted can be made into an item not for your class. It does not make much sense. Can anyone clear this up for me? Much appreciative

I ran into that very thing last night. I ran 4-5 high level strikes and received a "purple" drop. Turned out to be a Legendary "Fatekiller Hood" for a Warlock. BUT I wasn't even mad : ) you see I also have a level 22 Warlock and the hood jumped it to a level 23! Thanks Bungie!

It gives incentive to create another character

I'm actually really happy about it. Although it's obviously not the most efficient method, it means that I can get gear for my other characters while playing my Warlock main. I actually really wish you could get rares in the same way.

I think it's to encourage you to play as other classes. I play Hunter and if I got a Titan exotic chest, they want me to think "oh awesome! I should level a Titan to 20 and use this badass gear!". But that's the only thing I can think of as to why they do this :/ sucks a little either way

Well first off, it's random...so, that should answer your question right away. Secondly, throw it in the vault and when you feel like making a new characters you have something to work towards. "Oh man, when I hit 20th I can wear that sweet (BLANK NAME EXOTIC) that I got before. It's a game, have fun with it.

Edited by Brightgrave-26: 10/2/2014 3:41:33 PMThe way i see it is if you wanted to make another character the gear would power level them once they hit 20. It is also a means for obtaining materials to upgrade so instead of making you hoard a bunch of exotics you CAN use you instead have a few exotics but also the materials to upgrade them. This system favors multiple classes because it wont matter which class you raid with or do pvp with, all the items you obtain can be shared across your characters. The only thing you can't share is rep.
