Costumes In Destiny

Yes, allow players to wear costumes to resemble wearing all exotic gear

I think instead of letting everyone actually wear Full Exotic Gear since that probably won't happen, that Bungie could implement a Costume System that you can buy for Strange Coins or Motes of Light that allow players to appear one way but their stats won't actually change. ie. A player has Logic Singer III equipped (Gloves) in his inventory. He/She can then apply a Costume pallet to appear to be wearing Sunbreakers(Exotic Gloves). Your stats don't actually change only your appearance. This way players can "wear" full exotic gear without actually getting the stats and effects that they hold. I think this would be a nice feature for players who own a lot of exotics and would like to appear to wear them all. The Costume Pallets can be sold from Xur on Fridays for let's say 10 Strange Coins/15 Motes of Light per armor piece. So a full costume set would cost 40 strange coins and 60 Motes of Light. This will not apply to weapons only armor.

  • I'm pretty sure down the road we will be able to equipt more exotics. probably when they raise the level cap they will make it so that you can equipt more after say, level 30 or 40

  • So I own, 'No Back Up Plans', 'Helm of Saint-14', and "The Crest of Alpha Lupi', and what your saying is that I could wear all three, but only choose to apply the bonuses of one of them. What would the base stats for the other two items be, or would you use another, lesser piece of armor (Legendary, Raid, Rare) and use an 'Exotic Overlay'? This could work, and actually open up an avenue into 'Set Armors'. The 'Set Armors' all hinge on having a certain Exotic chest piece. The chest piece has the Standard fair of upgrade slots, plus three other 'special' slots, these three special slots become active once you equip the other three 'Set Pieces'. Now the 'Set Pieces' also have the standard fair of upgrades, as well as the 'special' slots, BUT the only difference is that you MUST have the 'Set Chest' armor equipped in order to equip the other 'Set Pieces'. EX: I own "Chest of Being a Badass" I can then Equip: "The Boot's of Ass Kicking", "The Gauntlets of Whup-ass", and "The Helm of 'All outta bubble gum'" --BUT-- I also own "The Gaunts of Ridiculous-ness", But I can't equip them with out the "Crest of Ridiculous-ness" chest armor.

  • Right now we don´t build or costumeize our character. All we do is put the highest gear on and destroy all the rest. So yes I´m all for it.

Would love a system like this for sure. It's not a deal breaker or such, but it'd be fantastic if we can have our Guardians look how we want and not have everyone look the same at end game. Some of the lower to mid tier gear looks so good to me; I always feel a bit disappointed having to dismantle them when I already have a top piece.

  • Charlie Murder had an item that allowed you to switch the stats of two clothing of the same area. I agree that they should add something like this except it's just the appearance.

  • I like this idea. Would like to see it implemented at some point.

  • I'm with ya. Terraria did this. You have 2 of every armor slot. One for "wear" and one for "cosmetic". Whatever is in "wear" gives you applicable bonuses. Whatever is in "cosmetic" is what is displayed. Great idea. I thought of this too because of my love of Terraria. Hadn't thought about dropping the idea here. Great post!
