We know they can support lots of players in the open world environments. So how cool would it be to do pvp in those areas? Open cosmodrome up to pvp, just the main large area where you initially spawn in. Block off skywatch, grottos, leave forgotten shores open. There are several high defensive positions that could serve as team bases. 6 v 6 v 6 would be great.

I want to see big team battles. But, I want to see it in PvE more than PvP. 18 players against a massive Cabal invasion force on Earth. Instead of Strikes. Call them Invasions. But more than a horde mode, an actual Vanguard operation mission, where the vanguard acts like a vanguard and protects The Last City. Titan Marks tell stories of teams of guardians who hold the bulwarks and the walls. That should be us. Turn the entire first area of the cosmodrome into a warzone. See all the players out there with their faction colors and gear on, trying to cause the most damage and sustain the least amount of deaths. Far as PvP. I just want a mode similar to salvage. Except, instead of relics, if you capture it, the player that initiated the capture gets to hold the sword of crota for 30 - 60 seconds. Then it disappears and re-crystallizes elsewhere. 6 v 6 or 9 v 9.

It makes no sense why Guardians would be fighting among themselves outside carefully monitored training exorcises (Crucible.)

Edited by aKa SnAzZy: 10/1/2014 10:27:37 PMI have a good idea for a pvp game type for patrol maps. (And this may already be a game type in some other game. If so, I'm apologize. Lol). Have an even number of teams of six (or larger) spawn in, or one team in each area of the patrol map. Each team has a flag in a central location of their area. The object of the game is to have one area capture all the flags on the map. Let's say that each team has a different color flag. Those colors, for arguments sake, would be red, black, blue, green, white, and yellow. Now, here's the catch: if red team captures yellow teams flag, all of the yellow team would become part of red team, thus doubling the size of red team. If black team captures blue team, it's size would also double. This would go on and on until there are only two teams left. This could be even, with each team consisting of three teams, or it could be lopsided, with one team consisting of five teams (30+ people), and the other team (6+ people). Once all flags have been captured, the game ends. There is no time limit. If people have time to play the raid, they can play this game type. Also, let's say that red team is the winner. The original red team (6+ players) would be considered the winners, or they placed first, thus earning them greater rewards. Everyone else's rewards would consist of how well they did in the game with numerous variables in play. How long did this player survive in one life, sprees, captures, assists, ect. What do you guys think? I call this game type Armageddon. Thanks for reading.

Yes please

All these ideas are great, but Bungie is never going to implement them. It looks like they wanted to make the game simple and linear. I really like all these ideas but we can only dream. In Bungie's current state right now, i doubt they would add something like this in the game.
-
I think this would be wonderful. But it can't be the whole Cosmodrone. Too big, open, and un-directive. Players would have no clue where to go. I'm really looking for a remake of Halo's Blood Gulch or Valhalla with 8+ players.
-
This isn't Guild Wars 2.
-
It would be cool if you can go into the open world and choose to attack or be attacked by other players in the open world
-
Love this idea!
-
I think they should add a patrol map that has pvp enabled and pvp missions on the patrol
-
No. As a designer you have to sort of lead the user. Too Open too broad of an area.
-
This would be epic. I think it should be like 24v24 or something huge and just run rampant.
-
8vs8 or more on one of the big pve maps would make me happy. Maybe a vehicle or two?
-
I think this would be great. A hostile mode on other players in the open world. Have it where you toggle on the character and choose "hostile" then other player can either accept or decline.
-
I was actually thinking today about how we could make pking work on patrols The answer is factions Players not wearing a faction specific class item show up with a blue nameplate and cannot be pkd. A player can toggle pvp mode by equipping a faction specific class item. Players can only attack other players which have different factions equipped than their own. (Dead orbit cannot attack dead orbit, but new monarchy can attack dead orbit) there is a 1 to 3 minute delay from the moment a player can go from a passive mode, to aggressive (blue to red) this would stop dinkheads from just switching class items whenever they want a quick pk. Or we could make it so you have to toggle it on in orbit... i'm sure we could figure it out. The rewards of pking could be glimmer, faction rep, or maybe mats. It could work gentleman.

Edited by ZeroSix: 10/2/2014 9:34:27 PMI was thinking a toggle in the menu would put you in pvp instances always on patrols and missions. You could do dailies and such fine, and when you see another guardian, it is on like donkey kong! I would never stop playing this game if the whole open world had pvp in it. That way pvers could do their stuff and the rest of us could have a blast in this game not seen in 99 percent of the shooters out there. SOOOOOO WIN Keep this thread on the front page. PVP in open world would shake the shooter genre in an awesome way.

How about a 4v4v4v4 Capture the flag... DURING the Hive/Fallen war? You'd be fighting 5 factions simultaniously
-
Why not some sort of random event every once in a while, like "The fallen are advancing on the tower, defend us guardian", and have it be full on, colossal warfare. Fallen literally everywhere in the cosmodrome, and anyone who wants to join can drop into patrol and try to defend bases/hold objectives. Have like 20 guardians working together on a team. Could be fun

Wow, you guys are really embracing some of these ideas. Humbling, didn't expect to get that kind of response.
-
Capture the flag on Mothyards. No Sparrows. Might actually be alright.
-
What about something like the Invasion gametype from Halo? I always played that the most and would love to get another crack at it in another bungie title.
-
yea right this game lags in 3v3. Bungie couldn't code 8v8 for launch anymore.
-
Bring your tent and sleeping bag
-
I said this earlier, only not 6v6 but more like 40v40vFallen
-
How about a massive pvp match, but with different objectives and you have to have a coordinated team? For instance, if you wanted to do clans you could or just random but with open mics as a necessity, and you had to capture enemy HQ's across the Cosmodrome?
