Bladedancer is virtually worthless in PvE

Read the edits, plox. So enough about all this constant whinage about how bladedancer is in PvP (yeah I know he killed you, but it's ok. You can get him next time). How about we direct our attention to the bladedancer's lack of performance in PvE? Yes I'm a hunter. No I'm not whining or crying. Bladedancer super as a whole is virtually outclassed by a stick in high level content. The entirity of end game missions revolve around avoiding fire and surviving. Bladedancer flies in the face of this logic, including a super with barely more dps than a standard melee, and the inability to kill a single major/ultra, much less a standard unit without him first killing you. Plox buff. Would love to hear thoughts. Edit: I'll admit, most of the supers aren't particularly effective at high level content. But at least you aren't required to kill yourself to execute a super. Further edit: I know bladedancer is good for revives. That's why I'm talking about the super. Why should we be restricted to only one viable BD PvE build? Also, you know you can play gunslinger then switch to BD mid-fight for crouch invis to revive. Further further edit: If anyone wants to say BD was designed for PvP and Gunslinger for PvE that's ok. I can see how most classes have certain PvP and PvE aspects. This makes sense. It would be ok. But providing 6 subclasses with equal viability produces increased diversity and replayability, if that's what Bungie is needs. Maybe sort of final edit: Why can't different subclasses have increased viability? I'm a fan of diversity. Every MMO and RPG should feel this way. I know Destiny is not inherently both, or either. But adding diversity to each subclass to provide for varying roles and playstyles within each aspect would provide infintely more customization, diversity, and enjoyment; especially with the people that don't want to have the same raid gear and the exact same build to do certain things at end game. People choose different classes for a reason. Why not have increased viability to further differentiate end game guardians?

  • i dunno about that. the super for both last 10 seconds (probably for all class - subclass combinations). but the main difference between the blade dancers and gunslingers, is that the blade dancer has the full 10 seconds effect, where the gunslingers only lasts 3 shots. in PvP, the blade dancer can kill someone in 1 hit with their super, and the gunslinger takes 2 (well it does for me anyway). in PvE he blade dancer can still attack multiple targets within the 10 seconds, where the gunslinger has to kill each target in 1 shot to be able to hit multiple targets.

    • I use bladedancer to clear loads of fodder that happen to be in a group. Can't go hit a boss (you're an idiot if you mele a boss anyway) but it's amazing for taking out a group of goblins or vandals

How about you go do that and then get back to me?

      • Bladedancer is great for clearing out mobs. It can clear out the area around it, or launch a wave to hit foes at range. And of course invisibility is great for reviving. I think it's good.

        • I have each class going and supers on high levels are only good for ads. Unless defender and resurrection. I use blade dancer for invisibility to run through areas or pick up ammo and teammates. I've saved some night falls when I was the only one left so you have to rethink its uses to the situation.

        • Bladedancer came in handy BIG TIME in this weeks Nightfall Strike! In the boss room the Psions with their Void shields are the toughest part of that Strike and what gets us killed. 1 guy was down and we were pinned in a horrible spot. 3 Psions were on the other side of the crates we were hiding behind. I activate bladedancer and with the help of Arc Burn I took all the Psions out! Clutch moment that bought us a lot of time! - With this, yes as a Hunter I understand BD doesn't have much use in End game PVE situations.

        • Increase damage, decrease shield. Better for PVE and more balanced for PVP. Shotgun has the same problem on the solution there is to lower damage and increase or leave range alone.

        • Disagree. I am a hunter, too. I usually play as the bladedancer sub. I can not say if I'd do better with the other classes or not, but I am happy with the bladedancer. If other classes are superior to bladedancer, it does not show based upon kill counts at end of matches I play on PVE. I do not know if it means a thing, but I have taken out several full health level 26 praetorians/minotaurs, have no idea if that is spelled correctly, with the bladedancer super.

        • I barely usey super so I don't have time to waste here, I maxed out both subclasses for me everything seems beautiful I give a -blam!- if it sucks or if it doesn't suck I kill them bitches with my BAD JUJU and knifing them. I do not give much attention on supers cuz im satisfy with what they can do.

i use bladedancer in pve only for invis revives, everything else in the kit is worthless in boss fights. and the people who complain about them being op in pvp, are just idiots who think being grouped together is a good idea, when u see a glowing blue guy coming but that could be said about the other 2 classes with better aoe supers that give them immunity to dmg while using, hunter being the only class without an immunity/massive dmg reduce gimmick

            • Blade dancer is the healer for the team like so many people have said already. Just a support class really just like the bubble shield titan subclass

If you think Bladedancer is useless in PVE you are obviously using it wrong. 1st Mistake trying to use it against Ultras and Bosses. 2nd mistake not using your Invisible moves IE crouch and go invisible for a few secs 3rd Mistake not using your R1 stun move while in Arcblade mode. Bladedancer can a valuable asset in a hard Strike Stealth Revives and Reg mob crowd control. Rulw of thumb dont try to use arcblade on Bosses or Majors and Ultra Arcblade is an ideal weapon for Crowd controling Reg mobs or clearing them out. But the major advantage to Bladedancer is the abilty to go Stealth after a Blink strike or crouching especially when you are the last one standing in a boss fight Stealth revives are Game savers in my opinion. I have maxed out both Bladedancer and Gunslinger and i am a very effective BladeDancer in strikes

                  • Subclasses are the tool you use for certain situations I use my titan defender in pve more than I'd use my striker which is use mostly for pvp. Sunsinger can be both but void walker is best in pvp rather than pve. I have not tried hunter but in the end you switch your subclass for situation. The subclass it's self shouldn't be more diverse. That's just what I believe you can take it as a grain of salt.

                    • It seems you have no idea how to use a bladedancer. It is highly effective and can take on/kill major and ultras and can take on bosses. You just need to know how to use it. I recommend you watch some tutorials on youtube.

                          • The Arcblade together with Cloak is the perfect "oh-shit-button" for every strike when your team died and you're the last guardian standing or when an Add spawn needs to die very quickly. The Arcgrenade is awesome for killing the Shields of mobs. Being invisible after the melee is perfect for distracting mobs to take the heat of a team member in the Dust Palace so excuse me if I totally disagree with your Assessment

                              • I agree, to a degree. I use my blade dancer class in strikes and missions and it wrecks everything. When it comes to the Nightfall or VoG it's almost always an insta-death. With the perk that regenerates life for kills you have a BIT more time before you die, but it's almost always inevitable. The best way I've seen it work, at least for me, is to target the lower level ads with it and let the Titans and Warlocks save their specials for the big guys. Realistically though, each character has a shit class for PvP and for PvE. Players with "e-peen" talent make it work for them either way.

                              • You need to use the spinning move to stun your opponent (if they are a major or have shield) before you start slicing your opponent. The Blade dancer is only worthless against bosses.

                                • "I know bladedancer is good for revives. That's why I'm talking about the super." Except you're not. The super is Arc Blade, not Bladedancer. get your effing terminology correct if you don't want to confuse people. I do agree it is rather annoying the limited PvE viability of both our supers though. Golden Gun is at least ranged but it only has 3 shots which won't even necessarily 1 hit kill certain trash/semi-trash enemies in high level content (stronger trash enemies it won't even 3 shot kill...). Arc Blade isn't 100% useless but it is extremely limited and you have to know exactly what you are doing and exactly what situations you can handle without dying... or you die. Sunsinger and Voidwalker are ranged. Striker gets/can get a massive defense boost while casting, and it is nearly instant cast. Void bubble is always useful if you use it correctly.
