I finally read through all of 404architect's posts, and I'd have to say it makes sense. But it worries me deeply.
If this is true: How bad is this relationship both between Bungie and Activision, and between the members of Bungie itself, and how will it affect "content" that they release? If everything needs to meet a deadline, are we all going to witness another Mass Effect 3? But over a horrific 10-year span?
If this isn't true: This would mean that this game is going EXACTLY the way Bungie had planned it. All the story line and other content cuts were part of this 10-year plan to keep customers invested and, more importantly, paying for this game. If this is true, then I believe I'd speak for most of my fellow gamers out here that this is NOT the Bungie we've come to know and love, and Bungie would lose a good portion of it's fan-base.
That little saying, "Honesty is the best policy," could potentially save this game, if Bungie decides to follow through with it.

Unfortunately, that honesty is probably blocked by thousands of pages of Activision contracts.
