What class has the highest potential in PvP?

I have a friend who is consistently going 30+ kills a game with over 2.5 k/d as a Gunslinger hunter. Now I know I've heard cries of "BladeDancer IMBA!" and it has lead me to wonder who do you guys/girls think is the best class for pvp. Not just what you've seen around but like in the hands of a highly skilled player which class would preform the best? I'm personally leaning towards Warlock - Blink + Slide + Shotgun + Melee (with that range) when done well just seems so strong.

  • Hunters are pretty strong. Skip grenades potentially one shot most guardians, even without vow. and tripmines can one shot any guardian who isn't running a high armor build. GG does the highest direct damage to a target of all abilities in game. (unbuffed abilities) and Bladedancer one shots anything it hits with any move in crucible, then regains its health, and get DR. (so much in fact that they are the only class that can survive a sniper headshot in crucible during super.) Hunter jump is fast and agile with little vulnerability. Warlocks can cover a large area in abilities. However, none of these abilities naturally one shot kill guardians. aside from nova. life steal can trigger on KILL with certain perks. mid 1v1 they aren't regaining health. It's also the only class in game without a roaming super with a health regenerating perk. The warlock jump is slow and floaty leaving them vulnerable. Sunsinger has received an unreasonable amount of nerfs. (overshield delay, vikings funeral changed, slightly reduced recharge.) It's a super it's supposed to be strong. Nothing manacles had its scatter grenade tracking speed nerfed. Which can be offset, but it requires taking a near useless perk. (angry magic) No evasive maneuver. Honestly, Titans in general are busted. In crucible anyway. All subclasses have a self healing or equivalent that is easily triggered. Only class with a guaranteed one shot melee. (shoulder charge) Only class with a dodge ability that spans all subclasses. Sunbreaker has everything tho. Sticky nades. (that seem to track harder than other stickies) Self healing with any ability kill. Overshields. A secondary attack option during super. Throwing 3-7 hammers than can possibly track, leave an aoe field, explode even larger, or cause combustion+chaining fire damage. Plus they have the titan skating exploit. (which shouldn't have been allowed to exist)

  • Defender Titan is pretty sick in pvp. Sticky semi homing grenades and that bubble has got me 10+ kills in a super. Only negative about the bubble is all other supers counter it. But I feel like you can get the most kills with it so I'll live with it

First and foremost, I want to say that the Warlock and Titan class is extremely powerful. Their abilities are conditioned for use in a wider range of conditions than the Hunter classes. But, you guys are missing the real reason for all of the hype surrounding the "Hunters are op" idea. There are significantly more skilled players with Hunters, than any other class. This is due to the majority of players originally choosing to play as Hunters at the game's release, and the challenge of using a Hunter to begin with. It is not difficult to perform well with the Titan or Warlock classes. The abilities they posses are very "casual player" friendly and are very forgiving to sub par use. Titans are much like Hive knights with them being pretty difficult to neutralize and being extremely effective when things get up close and personal. Paired with them being able to be extremely offensive or extremely defensive, Titans are naturally formidable foes. *cough cough Master Chiefs lil" bros cough cough* Warlocks on the other hand, Will be offensively superb and or extremely tough to take out of a battle. While sheer damage reduction is not as great as Titans, Warlocks are proficient in the use of survivability. Most of the Voidwalker's attacks does great damage while returning health to the player, causing them to be great pricks of the buttocks when pitted against. Sunsinger's are also very capable of doing damage and halting incoming damage, but really shines with longer lasting dps and the ability to revive. Both classes aren't as "tanky" as Titans, but are effective at dealing loads of damage and returnig unscathed. Which leaves us with Hunters, the manipulators of will. Hunters don't do a lot of damage, and also won't take much either. There are no buffs or regenerative abilities that come without securing a kill, there are no huge AOE supers, there isn't any real advantage over the competition. Well, not entirely that is. Run speed is pretty consistent with the other two classes unless a Hunter maxes out the agility meter and has a weapon with agility boost. Then a slightly faster Hunter is created. The jumps possessed by Hunters are overbearingly better than the other classes though, i'll admit. Really though, it's pretty difficult to be an effective Hunter. Same as the real life counterpart, Hunters take time to develop. The abilities for the Hunter (this is my personal interpretation), rewards players with a high awareness of the battlefield and the ingenuity to force opponents into losing situations. For instance, when I find myself cornered against an enemy, the only way I win the gunfight is by confusing the attacker and forcing them to play my way. Such as stabbing an attacker to gain invisibility, evading their melee (if possible) and finishing them while the opportune time is upon me. Many encounters go this way when I don't get killed before I can and I (meaning me as the player), can execute it successfully. And this can be made to apply to the Hunter class as a whole. Forcing your opponent to believe that they have an advantage and turning the tables on them and killing before they can defend themselves. So as an overview of the classes, refer to my classification: Titans: Your "Tank" class (Captures and holds key points on the battlefield) Warlocks: Your warrior class (Eliminates enemy forces and or enhances team ability) Hunters: Your lone wolves (Capable of many created play styles fixed to the player's skill, execution, and ingenuity) So before you go off saying that Hunters are "OP", remember this post and realize that they're probably just a really good player. Not saying the other two can't be, as I can play with all, it's just a lot more satisfying with a Hunter...Because when I do great with the Titan and Warlock, I get kills that I didn't deserve. Check out my crucible stats if you can though! (for Hunter that is)

      • Warlock just for sheer tactical superiority. Most of the hunters abilities are focused on individual targets, while warlock destroys all. Not to mention that the hunter grenades kinda blow ass :P

              • Warlock as of the release of trials. Hunters are efficient killers in all aspects but lack aoe and utility.

                • Warlocks. They are really the most devastating when played properly. Maybe Titans as a follow up, learning just the right pitches for lightning grenades is damn near an art.

                  • I feel that hunters would have the highest potential, but that they would be hardest to master. Titans are the easiest to pick up and run with I've found. With warlocks being the middle ground. They all have the potential to be quite a force though. It all depends on who is behind the controller.

                    • As you can see from this forum there is no one best PvP or PvE class. It's all based on personal preference and player skill. Obviously if there really was one Best class everyone would be it and it wouldn't be so mixed. But you can kind of tell where Bungie tried to balance the classes, Warlock-poor defense, great offense. Titan- poor offense, great defense. Hunter- the middle ground.

                        • I don't see to many Titans do well in pvp their super is good though. Warlocks seem to die fast but deal good damage back. Hunters(my class) se to have some advantages some disadvantages. 1. ability to move during super to get more than 2 kills. 2. Only ranged melee attack(throwing knives). Everything else you here is very opinionated. Disadvantages 1 no way to get an over shield unless you count the damage resistance in blade dancer. 2. Weakest grenade in my experience even if they stand on top of it you won't get a kill without prior damage. And I've been killed many times without taking damage before by the other classes grenades. Again most else is highly opinionated. Not to say that mine isn't though ;)

                          • you want to stay alive to make streaks and hunters as the best agility, speed and you can also be sneaky with the perks and its pretty simple main goal of a hunter is to hunt and survive so its like if it was a class made to survive but thats just my opinion guys
