I am level 28. Have ran VoG successfully multiple times, have completed Nightfall multiple times, and I always complete the weekly Heroics and Daily's at level 28. I also complete as many bounties as I can for the week. I haven't had a single exotic drop from anything. Last night put me over the edge when I ran my first Nightfall and received 9 coins and watched as a friend I was helping received an Insurmountable Skullfort. Completely unneeded because he already has a helmet of Saint-14. This guy is giving exotics to alts and I've never received a single drop. All of my equipment has been purchased with coins (Suros Regime, Sunsigner gauntlets) and Crucible/Vanguard marks (all of my armor). My legendary weapons (77 Wizard, A.F19X scout rifle, Epitaph sniper rifle) were acquired from faction level ups. Not a single drop from a raid, strike, or daily. Even my Warlock bonds are all purchased. The only drops I seem to get are materials which is kind of like a slap in the face because I don't want to spend them on anything other than the best gear which I can't seem to acquire in the first place. It makes no sense to pump shards into a Vanguard purchased legendary robe if I will be dismantling it anyway because a better robe is needed to get to 30. It makes no sense to pump energy into an average legendary scout rifle when there are far more superior weapons out there. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I've become so desperate to find a reason that I'm even wondering if Bungie has put some sort of debuff on my account for creating a "Should Destiny be renamed to Groundhog Day" poll on the Bungie forums. Seriously. Help me make heads or tails of this. It's driving me nuts. I really want to feel like the things I am accomplishing will be rewarded but I'm not really feeling like it is.
