Ok so right now past level 20 any green drops that are obtained are dismantled within 2 seconds and you receive materials (i'm titan so I get plasteel plating, and i think everyone gets weapon parts) plus glimmer.. All fine and dandy...
The problem is when I have 400 weapon parts and 200+ plasteel plating just sitting in the inventory taking up space. No use for them once you have 2 or three weapons or armor sets leveled up.
Here's my proposal:
======> Allow us to trade these common materials in for higher level stuff we actually need to use such as ascendant materials or even vanguard or crucible marks. <==========
This would immediately make getting greens at high levels so frequently at least somewhat of an exciting moment. As opposed to: "oh great... another green, let me dismantle it since it's just gonna take space"
Please reply if you agree.

I would prefer rep instead, not much though, maybe like ten or fifteen per weapon

I'm with you, I love this idea. I don't care ox you need to trade 500 of something just to get a strange coin or ascendant thing, I just need something to use them on, I actively try to avoid green drops now because I have way too much hadronic essence

It would be nice if you can use plate steel plating and other materials to craft armor. Random chance of course but not too random. The more you put in the better you get.

I've taken to keeping them on-hand, then equipping them before turning in bounties. One bounty, and its XP is maxed. Seems to result in more parts when I shard them. Not that I have any use for the parts...just gives me something to do with them. I will say, being able to trade the parts for ascendant materials would absolutely make my day. I don't know that trading them for XP or marks is particularly useful--hitting the cap for marks is easy enough. And since you can only equip one heroic armor and weapon, once you've got that, strange coins become less useful. Ascendant materials, however, are long-term useful. I realize having multiple heroic gear is equally useful, but in my experience, acquiring the gear is easier than upgrading it. YMMV.

I can see where getting green items will begin to pile up after a long while. I'm already stuck with one stack of 1000 armor parts for my level 28 Warlock and well into my second set. I can put them in the vault but it will take a slot. I can keep them on my character, but again a slot is lost. We can't drop them, can't trade them, and can't use the armor pieces for another character unless it is the same class (which is pointless as my Warlock is maxed in both Voidwalker and Sunsinger) so something must be done to address this. Hopefully the Vanguard or Crucible Quartermaster will be able to take them some day. Same with the Gunsmith for eventual weapon parts overload but at least they can be used across all my characters for weapon leveling. What happens when all three are max leveled? This is definitely something to address. Maybe reduce drop rates again?

The whole game isn't designed for high levels.

I would love greens if you could decide them at the cryptarh

They give us class dismantling stuff that we can use to upgrade defense and light on gear that is rare legendary or exotic

honestly even at vanilla level 20, greens are useless. Either greens shouldn't even drop and clog the inventory anymore, or there has to be something damn good from dismantling them. I actively go out of my way to avoid picking up those -blam!-ing useless engram bubbles now (not even engrams anymore, so i couldnt level the craptarch)

Agreed, any or all of those options are great. And/or let us exchange Sapphire wire and Weapon parts for something, ANYTHING! I have over 400 of each and I always upgrade everything I can. How about trade the for resources so I don't have to farm as much!?
