Exotic Weapon Bounties: A community's opinion
1. Bounties are fine requiring both PvP and PvE
2. Bounties need to be changed to allow a method for completion in BOTH PvP and PvE.

I have seen a lot of anger over this issue on here.
Putting it to a vote to see how everyone feels, not just a few people.

What I think is happening is people that have responded this way do not understand that many of us players object to PvP on principle.
There are other people that have some kind of rage monster inside of us that we do not want to let out. Some people come on the forums asking to Nerf the cause of their rage, other people would rather not even enter the domain that awakens the rage monsters.
Now we have one last group of people that want to feel special because they have something unique. Some of these people want genuinely to have something that others don't, but the cynicism in me, awakened by the cryptarch, believes that a vast majority of these players want an advantage in PvP.
I don't believe it is fair for PvE players, that will become the core of the community, should be punished for PvP players wanting to keep an advantage that was obtained from design flaws from Bungivision not understanding the community. Especially since when loot farming has been so frowned upon, mostly by PvP players.
Also factions need to accept both kinds of marks.
Players should be able to have fun and an opportunity to obtain all loot while not being handicapped by preferences, or pushed towards a particular game mode they do not enjoy.
I want to see all guardians excel in their endeavors, and not be hindered by an unfair loot system in both the crucible and strikes.

1 ReplyThere should be 2 sets of exotic weapons. One set is exclusively for PVE while the other would be exclusively for PVP with the bounties for each using their exclusive game mode. That way when all of Nerf this and Nerf that post started the PVE weapons should not be affected or ruined by it.

Exotic Bounties are best way to "earn" exotics as there is a specified reward for all the efforts whereas you can leave the "bounty" to RnG that eg: for an HoW Exotic let the bounty for it be gained by RnG and the weapon can be earned by completing tasks laid down by the bounty

2 RepliesEdited by LordChocoSlime: 1/27/2015 4:27:37 AMI usually avoid FPS competitive multiplayer, so the Crucible bounty stages for most of the Exotic Weapon Bounties were incredibly exasperating. Thorn and Invective's Crucible phases in particular were among the most soul crushing experiences I ever had in a video game. All it takes is a random losing streak, some bad luck, and factors beyond a player's control (spawn killing, chosen maps you don't like, skilled players versus noobs, opponents spamming Super abilities) to erase all hard work one puts into those bounty stages. Thankfully, sheer determination and perseverance helped me overcome those trials and complete all five of those Exotic Weapon Bounties despite my lack of PvP experience. Now, I'm not saying that Bungie should purge the PvP bounty stages from Exotic Weapon Bounties completely, but I feel they could give players the option to undergo either a PvE route or a PvP route for each Exotic Weapon Bounty. After all, players can choose to build up rep for Legendary gear with either PvE factions (Vanguard) and/or PvP factions (Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, New Monarchy). Also, to maintain a sense of balance, each PvE and PvP Exotic Weapon Bounty route should have the same level of difficulty regardless of which route a player chooses. For example, 500 Void damage kills during Weekly Heroic Strike in the PvE route would be similar to 500 Void damage kills during the Crucible in the PvP route.

1 ReplyI think it should depend on the bounty you turn in. If you turn in a pve bounty when the game decides to give you a exotic it should be pve only required to complete it. Same as a pvp bounty that you turn in.

I agree that there should be a way we can skip the crucible portion, or have a choice if we want a pve mission, or pvp mission. To those who say "if you can't do it or complain about doing it, you don't deserve it, just abandon it" Here's an example: remember there was always that kid in the neighborhood who had that brand new supersoaker and your parents only bought you the little squirt guns? you would ask them politely,you would beg, you would do anything to get it, but they would always say "if you can behave and do all your chores on time as well as your homework for 1 month, you van have one" and then you try to do so but you end up forgetting homework or chores one day and then you ask your parents again "sorry, but your teacher called and said you missed an assignment. maybe next month." so now once again, all the other kids parents simply buy them their super soakers, and you're stuckwith your little squirt guns. same goes for exotic bounties requiring crucible, when we are not good or at all interested in it. we slip up on one match and we're back to where we started. As others said; this game was marketed to mmorpg fans who love co-op and pve, not pvp. So why is every event and most exotic bounties pvp required? There should be more events such as queen's bounty that are for pve players so we can have our exclusive items too. But it seems iron banner has been back every other week, so where's the queen's bounty? I like bungie and all, but I just wish they would cater to both pve and pvp equally, and not favor one over the other.

3 RepliesWell I'm not going to choose one of your selections since I've gone through, conceivably, the hardest pvp bounty in the game i.e. Thorn. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. I'm not a great crucible player, but not horrible either. I believe it was conditioning during the Halo era. That being said, I have no interest in pvp whatsoever. I only participate for the exotic bounties. Simply put, it's a joyless task that doesn't reward smart cooperative play even in modes like control. In addition, the reward system is even worse than Roc strikes. Hats off to Bungie though. Ya know, for making us do the crappy pvp side. I will say that playing crucible will hone your reflexes. It's just not fun for me. That's not to say, that pvp portions of the exotic bounties need to be removed. They just need a tweaking. Instead of losing progress with kills and promoting shitty tactics, let us keep our progress so we learn the game more organically.

I think this issues is seriously much further down the list as compared to getting more content each week. We need stuff to do, we DONT need tweaks to the game we already have. Looking forward is always best.

Imo, the bounties are designed to make you a better rounded player in all modes, and that's why they have pvp and pve sections.

Well I've completed the thorn invective and bad juju bountys I also wasn't happy at first with the pop section of the quests after playing watching my radar got through it

1 ReplyIve gotten the sane three bounties 3 times in a row and i dont find it very fair. I just got my third exotic bounty today and i had only 2 options and they were the same as the previous weeks. Am i able to complain to bungie about this?

I got 2 exotic bounties. I was an idiot and chose bad juju+invective. I have been doing ten bounties every day since, and I just can't get one! Does anyone know the drop rate for these? Ugh

I think that these bounties that combine elements of PvP and PvE are great but I know people without gold who can't complete these bounties. I also know people who are just god awful at crucible and who have been stuck on the thorn and bad juju bounties for over a month now and they aren't any closer now then they were then.

3 months and I suck so much I don't get beyond 16 of 25 on the request from Okies part 2. Please, for the love of everything sacred in this world, stop tormenting pve players to satiate your need to force every gamer on the planet into pvp play styles.

I've been playing video games for well over 30 years (yes I'm old lol. And in all my years of playing ive never like PvP gameplay, I prefer running in co-op with fantastic company. All I'm going to say on this is you should get a choice, ie go in to the crucible or go off to the moon and kill 1000 wizards. I love that this game caters for a lot of game sets for players to enjoy, but what most people forget is that Bungie have always favoured PvP mode, what they don't see is that there are a,or of players who don't enjoy or like PvP. If you like PvP then all the best to you and I hope that you have fun and dominate. But for me I like PvE always have, my son he loves PvP and he's in the crucible on a daily basis. So please don't hate the haters of a games mode were all on this game to have fun and become legend. Thank for you time guys I'm off to kill hive with my new raid gear. Cheers Lee.

If you are not upto that challenge then you have to accept that this/these weapons are not for you. Alcoholics don't get to go around stopping other people from drinking alcohol simpy because their addiction prevents them from enjoying it responsibly. This is not about Bungie not "understanding" or being "unfair". this is about people being unwilling to hear the word "No".

Honestly the exotic bounties are fine the way they are like the pvp portion isn't asking much the hardest to complete in pvp is thorn and that's not even that hard like get a void shotgun or fusion rifle or sniper and camp somewhere like it's really not that hard and the other pvp portions of other bounties are really easy like I know when people complain about exotic bounties in pvp they are talking about thorn

Honestly, I would agree because I don't much care for the playerbase in Crucible. It seems that the PvE playerbase has less elitism and rudeness running rampant. At this point, I don't honestly feel that Thorn is worth dealing with the assholes who populate the Crucible and bitch about getting killed by a FR or Shotgun repeatedly.

8 RepliesI Honestly feel they are fine as is. The exotics always seemed to me to be a symbol of prowess in the game, and reflect a commitment to becoming as good as possible in the entire games, both PvE and PvP. But not ALL exotic bounties have the same requirments. Super Good Advice (Solar MG) requires NO PvP to earn. The one I currently have, Tovalds Journal requires 10,000 kill points in PvP, but I do t think has a loss on death mechanic. From what I gather from reading, Thorn is held to be one of (if not the) best hand cannons in the game. Makes sense to me it would have such demanding goals to earning it. With that being said, I firmly believe that no one really NEEDS an exotic. Some want it, but I don't think there is a real need. I may never earn it, because I'm mostly crap in PvP. I will go 3-5 deaths without a kill. Highest medal count for me: back in action. If you want the item, you have to earn it, even if you think the method for earning it is crap. Current Exotic Bounties are WAI in my opinion. I will also say though, that people replying to this issue with "stop whining" or "get good" are not doing anything to help the community. Instead do what I've seen others do: offer some actual suggestions to help players improve their playing and achieve their goals. Just do it without casting judgment in others.

I have Invective which required 5 strikes without dying, and 25 k/d in PvP. Sure the 25 k/d was intimidating, but once started not that hard. I ended up finishing it in 2 clash matches. I started Bad Juju and am now at the 10,000 points. I have saved up some PvP bounties as well to work on at the same time. Again though prior it required 25 strike games to be completed. So I am not seeing where the problem is and why my fellow PvE players are crying so much on this. The bounties require both PvE, and PvP, which is balanced and fair to both sides.

Not voting but I agree on the part where you can either do PvP or pve a friend of mine would like that she's not a good PvP person
