Thorn: not worth the headache
This gun is too weak for the EFFORT it takes to get it. first, you need to beat phogoth... pretty easy if you dont suck. then 500 hive enemies (or so) again, time consuming, but easy enough. then 500 energy with void weapons in the crucible... as long as you get slightly more than 1 k/d its easy-ish, if time consuming... THEN we have xyor the unwed. even at level 29, getting down to phogoth on epic difficulty takes FOREVER, but you can solo it. just retreat and shoot as much as possible... then it gets hard. almost all the adds in phogoths pit have hive boomers, and, even WITH level 27+ allies, I can only do this with the exploit they just patched. it is nigh impossible when the shields EAT bullets like candy, and the enemies seem to work together, focusing on one player at a time. im trying to re-earn the thorn (I sharded it twice already) because im only ever getting the same 3 exotic bounties (Thats 6 exotic bounties in a row. bad juju, thorn, invective, like a bad damned joke), and i can tell you first hand, for all that effort, it should have been the best hand cannon in game... but it sucks. low-end impact for a hand cannon, low clip, stability, reload, accuracy, AND range... its like bungie is giving me and every hand cannon user the middle finger

4 RepliesI use Thorn on a daily basis when I play and see nothing wrong with it. Maybe if you would upgrade it to the point where you get more range you might not complain. But apparently that wont happen

The base thorn is just ok. Once you get the stability/ range upgrade and mark of the devourer its great. Especially in pvp. I'm suprised they are going to buff it.

Bungie said that Thorn and Bad Juju are lack luster and will be receiving tweaks so save this on cause it may just become the best hand cannon in a few days.

For the last requirement stay back in the small room before the chamber, in the first doorway, just far enough to shoot things but not so far to make them despawn. If you want to earn Thorn you'll need to be patient and focused and work well with your fireteam. My friends helped me through the whole process, even the last bit, and it's a testament to our teamwork. I agree its not worth the effort (the accuracy seems off and the impact is pathetic), but you can definitely do it. Besides, there are more hand cannons.

The Thorn and Bad Juju are both getting a buff soon, it was in the patch notes :)
