Buy Elemental Damage?

Basically what I'm suggesting is that upon upgrading a primary weapon to max you will be able to obtain an elemental damage type, much like how Special and Heavy weapons do by default. I was thinking that after fully upgrading your weapon you could take it to the gunsmith who would then be able either put one of the three elemental types onto the gun for a nice chunk of glimmer (Exotics and Legendaries cost more), or, alternatively, send you on an optional quest to bestow one of the three types onto your gun (once again scaled based on rarity.) Or it could just be a free choice upon fully upgrading the weapon, but I'm not a fan of this option. Another thought while I'm on the topic, how would people react to being able to change the damage type that their weapons did? Obviously this wouldn't just be a click away and would take time and energy to change, but I think it would be a neat idea for you to change a Solar Sniper into a Void or Arc one instead. Thoughts?

  • If anything Xur should sell an upgrade for exotics and legendaries(Seperate items) and have them cycle randomly each week, that way you can't just buy all of them...I say 5 or 10 strange coins would be a reasonable price for one. (One time use of course ex. You can only use it on 1 weapon per modifier)

  • you should have a crafting table to mix and match your gun specs includeing skins and sights or extra ammo or ups melee damage anything like that would be cool

  • Good idea. I have seen some primary's that already have elements. They just seem to be very rare.

  • I think making mods into drops that are exclusive to being pickups and one-time permenant uses would be cool Ex: Solar damage mod for ARs or an exotic mod like "three way shot" for rockets. I also think that there should be faction mods as well as a mod vendor who is found deep in the city beyond the tower if it should ever open up or out in the reef. The vender would sell mods and increase the chances of successfully installing a mod vs doing it yourself. The installation might not work and the mod will be lost or degrade to next lower level of ref rarity..."

  • Know what would be even better? If you could buy ammo mods like in Mass Effect 3 that are effective only for the next mission you take. So like you buy a solar ammo mod, and the weapon you currently have equipped (in hand) now has properties of solar ammo for the rest of your current activity such as a strike, heroic or story mission.
