What should Sunsingers and Radiance do?

I love being a Sunsinger. Setting people on fire is great. However, as soon as I get blasted by a Nova Bomb, a Hunter starts running at my like a maniac with their Arcblade, or a Titan ground-pounds, I'm wondering what in the hell I do when I pop my Super. Radiance just seems so lackluster for a power. Sure, self-resurrection is cool, but I usually end up dying twice in order to get one kill. Radiant skin sounds good on paper, but I don't feel any more resilient when I pop my Super (am I just bad?). Reducing everyone else's cooldowns would be nice, but it's difficult for that to be useful when you're not working with friends; even with friends, I'd rather feel more powerful myself than provide my team an extra grenade or two. Insta-kill punches and more grenades are nice, but no one runs from a Sunsinger the same way you would from a Bladedancer, Striker, or Gunslinger. The Sunsinger is definitely meant more as a support class like the Titan Defender, but I don't feel Sunsingers have the same obvious role as Defenders. The Titan's bubbleshield has obvious defensive uses that can be used at crucial moments. For Radiance, usage is more random. Do you use it to provide yourself a temporary armour buff (which I feel is inadequate as it currently sits), as a means to hurl a few extra grenades, or as a tool to bring yourself back into a fight much faster? More offensive supers are used to clear rooms of tough enemies and the Defender's shield has clear defensive purposes, but Radiance is more vague and underpowered as it is now. Perhaps this all just my own opinion, so I'd like some input. Should the Sunsinger class see some changes? At the very least, I think a discussion on Destiny's pyromaniacs would be fairly interesting! Please please PLEASE drop some tips you've developed on how to yodel about the stars!

  • I play a blade dancer and I gotta agree with you that sunsingers seem underpowered. At least as far as their super goes. With my super I can cut through a sunsinger with radiance in two quick slices. Even without using my super, it's not that much harder to take down a sunsinger using radiance with an auto rifle (or weapon of choice). I think a cool way the super could be buffed is if while using your super, your grenade ability actually changed into something more offensive. For example, for the duration of radiance, you toss out fireballs that have a smaller radiance than nova bomb, but if you connect with the lob, it's an instant kill. It should be pretty difficult to aim and maybe every time you throw one it uses up 1/3 of the super duration. But in the hands of skilled players it could help make radiance more viable. And then of course you'd still keep all the modifiers like bonus shielding, etc that you could put on.
