So, a couple things

Alright inb4 anyone thinks this is another whiney thread about how things are bad and bungie should feel bad. Its not. I've been mulling over destiny as a whole and heres a list of things that I think needs to be addressed/added/removed/adjusted. Before we get into this, just know that this is meant to be an open discussion, not a flaming troll hell. First off lets talk about some of the things that need to be addressed first and foremost. 1. Destiny is an MMO. No matter how hard Bungievision wants to make it a "shared world shooter", It just simply boils down to it being an MMO with really really good gameplay mechanics. (ie. the shooting is smooth and shit). To all the people who purchased the game thinking it was gonna be halo, Sorry. Bungievisions marketing worked. 2. OP - alright, for those of you who don't lurk around forums often, it means Overpowered. There is a big difference between OP and annoying. Shotguns are annoying, not OP. They do exactly what they were meant to do. 1SK in melee range. 3. Farming - I already said that destiny is an MMO whether you like it or not. This comes with the territory. Farming for items/ levels/ materials is a thing that happens in EVERY MMO EVER. It is encouraged a lot of the times. Lets talk more specifically about the cave. Oh yes, the cave. The cave is just a product of circumstance, Im not really sure where people are getting that farming the cave is good for items, Its really not. If you want legendary items go do the patrol missions for vanguard points, or the crucible if you have the skill. In the first week and a half I was geared due to the crucible. I only lack legendary boots to finish my set. (sans raid gear, havent done that yet). If you did both the vangaurd and the crucible you could be legendary geared all the way by week 2. The loot cave/ murder cave/ treasure cave/ or whatever you want to call it cave, is just a spot where some weak enemies spawn frequently. EVEN IF they do something about it and change the spawn times or whatever, there are multiple other spots in the game that the same can be done with. (I know of one i discovered myself on mars). Theres nothing wrong with it, Bungie most likely doesn't care, so move on with your gaming experience. 4.RNG - Yes random number generators are bad, and bugie should feel bad. However, telling them its a shitt system 18million times isn't helping them fix it. Heres what needs to happen. Being that destiny is IN FACT an MMO I guess we could take a thing or two from MMO's and go with (drum roll please) A LOOT TABLE! (ta- daaaaah). The way loot tables work is this: Each enemy has a list of items that it can drop and a percentage of how often it can drop, as the enemy levels the percentages go up. so you start getting better items more frequently. Now, that solves our problem for patrols and regular mission drops, but what about strikes, crucibles, and raids? Good ole' Phantoms gonna tell you children. Now the reason that Bungie went with RNG is becuase they wanted to give the players that weren't so great an incentive to keep playing. Fine. We'll keep that and cater to the casuals (filthy casuals). However the good players should have a higher chance to get something right? not a garauntee, but a higher chance at least. Here's ole' uncle Phantoms (probably) "full proof" system. 1. Keep the RNG - Slow down yer yapper and read sonny! We keep the RNG so that everyone including the casuals, have a chance at a good item. 2. Modifiers son - For those of you who aren't sure how these work, buckle up chuckle f*ck your going for a ride. So generally in the crucible you can earn between 1000 - 3000 points (in clash, we're gonna use clash cause im lazy and its easy). Lets say that the RNG still works the way it does now, and lest speculate that it works as follows. At the end of each crucible match a number is generated for each player. 50-59 = materials 60 -69 = common item - white 70-79 = uncommon item - green 80-89 = rare item - blue 90-98 (or 99) = legendary item -purple 98-100 = exotic item - yellow Okay, so now we have us a chart to refer to. Since generally you earn 1000 - 3000 points in the crucible lets assign some modifiers. Lets say for each 500 points you earn it will add a +3 to the number you generated or "rolled". So lets speculate that a player rolls a 77 on the RNG. Okay not bad, but lets do better. Lets say that this same person had a point score of about 3000. Thats pretty damned good! With our modifiers kicked in (+18) he goes from rolling a 77 and getting a blue item to rolling a (77 + 18) = 95! Well would ya looky there, he got a legendary. This system means that if you do well you will have a much higher chance of getting something good, however if you are infact a casual and don't have the time/skill you can still luck out! more thoughts to come later.
