the ship opportunity

First off, Destiny is a really fun game, but it can and likely will only improve over time. For me, the largest missed opportunity comes in the form of your ship. It's basically your home, and had huge potential to be as much a character as ghost, if not more. When you first find your ship, it's a heap of junk held together by spit and golden age elbow grease. The camera focuses on the ship and slowly pulls back, as if saying "this ship is a junker, but it's your junker." It reminded me of the millennium falcon, the most unique ship in another sci fi galaxy. The reveal of the ship was my first moment of excitement in the game. So imagine my disappointment when I discovered I could just buy an entirely different ship with a few paltry glimmer... That's it? New in, old out? The new ships lack heart, there is no emotion involved at all. Just a shiny new toy you buy when you fancy it. With that lengthy introduction out of the way, I propose a slight overhaul and addition to the ship mechanics. Rather than buying completely new ships, why not allows us to fully customize our original junker, inside and out. I have seen many requests for player housing, so I suggest making our ship our "house." The inside could be devoid of adornment and utility initially, with a plethora of options to customize your ship the way you want it. You could even make it level up much like your other equipment does, opening up new options as you go. Some options could include shaders, decorative furniture and golden age art, lighting, a mobile engram decryption, mobile bounty shop, and a mobile vault. I'm sure others can come up with more. As for the outside of your ship, it should be customizable in every way imaginable, so that nearly every ship is unique. The ship should feel like it is yours, and only yours. There is so much more that can be said on the subject, but I think I've made my point. To me, this is the most disappointing part of the game, and I think adding these things in would be a tremendous boost to the overall enjoyment of the game. That being said, I think you have a fantastic foundation for a blossoming world, and I hope to see it bloom to greatness. Hope you like the idea, thanks! Edit:changed the title in case people thought it was a negative thread.

 • Awesome suggestions! I too feel that there is something missing about the ships. If you look closely all the ships have the same parts. Mix and match doesn't really create variety. Ships should look WAAAAY more diverse and varied. I want to feel like there are different cultures producing different kinds of ships for different functions. Ford and Chevy look nothing like Volkswagen.
