Im the only antisocial who needs matchmaking system to enjoy the game?

I dont like talking in a headset, i dont like to add friends on psn, i like to play quietly and alone while my wife and daughters asleep... i need a matchmaking system or i simply cannot enjoy the game. The "labor" of going after friends, forming parties, schedule things, are just not for me anymore... my days of Wow raiding are long gone. Theres someone like me out there?

  • If Monopoly didn't have matchmaking, than Destiny doesn't need it either.

  • I used to be like you, only talk to my friends every now and then, but I really like this game and I now have like 30 "friends" (I used to have 5 real friends). I'm totally down for matchmaking

I definitely feel for you on this issue. I'm also having an awkward time enjoying this game solo after being bombarded by several Raid and random invites on Xbox Live. My Xbox account is Silver Membership by choice, so by default my Fireteam will always remain Private. However, players who sent me invites assume I have Gold Membership simply because I'm playing Destiny and are shocked when I reply stating I'm locked out of the game's multiplayer content. It's gotten to a point where I stopped responding to any invites I get because I'd have to go out of my way to repeat the same "I have Xbox Silver, so I can't join your Fireteam/Raid/etc." reply all over again. Including matchmaking in Destiny's other modes could help players in need of help find recruits without wasting time sending invites to random players, especially those who don't even have Xbox Gold Membership or PlayStation Plus.

  • Agreed, a matchmaker and lfg for other things would be great. Although, i also want a text chat window, but im probably in the minority for that.

Bungie needs to add a chat window! Actually, I like the Crucible all right, but this cannot be understated enough to Bungie: We need a freaking chat window! Hello! Anyone home there, Bungie? It would keep people from quitting if everyone could just meet up at the tower and ask for help with whatever: a certain boss, or strike, or what have you. Same goes for being on the planet maps and Crucible. And most people including myself don't want to have to listen to every burping, farting, eating, swearing pig on the internet over voice chat just to get a team together. Put in a chat window, Bungie!! For a supposed multiplayer-only game, it's an awfully lonely one if you didn't come into it with any personal friends or family. Destiny is way too grindy to force people to solo most of the time.

  • I recently joined a clan on here and still prefer to play solo. You're not the only one, most people I've come across so far are younger teens whom I haven't the slightest interest in associating with.

    • I don't want one for the raid... but for everything else! Nothing else required voice chat really.

    • Yeah, I'm not social myself. Generally if I raid with a person they want on my friends list. Afterwards I delete them.

    • Just use Destiny lfg and say your not using a mix. I have done the raid hard and normal over 20 times along with nightfalls and have found groups on there who will let me go without it.

    • The only thing you can't do without a mic is the raid. I play solo with no mic and I find people for the Nightfall/Weekly immediately on destinylfg.net.

      • I'm not in the same boat but fully understand where you're coming from. Matchmaking should be there as an option at least .

      • Exactly the same here. Using a mic would be a nightmare of background noise for others. What platform you play on?

      • I'm kind of in your boat. For me, friends online or joining a clan is a commitment. In my forties, with wife, kids, job & pets, so my game time is my ME time. It's a time to unwind and kill some aliens. Just want to do my own thing, without following or leading people around. My main wish is to have the strikes have solo options added. This is only to allow me to go at my own pace without holding up the speeders, or being slowed down in case I decide to speed through. Wouldn't do the raids, but I do support the idea of opening the raids to matchmaking. It's not going to hurt anyone. People with friends will continue to play with friends and everyone else will do their thing. But the topics on the forums will just move from matchmaking arguments to arguments about raid ethics.(See strikes). But then again, we'll always find something to b**ch about. Good Luck.

      • Yes, the game only needs a small amount of initiative. I understand your situation, not wanting to wake the wife and kids, however, one weak link in the raid, ruins the experience for everyone. Communication is key...I wish their was a way to help you.

      • I dont mind talking on a headset, but I do think that this game is not for me. I have a level 26 and a level 24 and dont have the time or the interest to get 6 people together during the hours I play. I think the game is lacking several aspect for me and I dont like it as much as many people here.

      • You wont be able to RAID without a headset. Coordination is required. How will you know if the party wants you to use the Relic or not to touch it? You best stick to playing Destiny in the daytime when people are awake still or you wont be able to End Game. just letting you know now. So you dont waste your time.

      • completely agree there is literally no reason to not implement matchmaking for everything could care less if lots of groups fail at raids, the community will grow better with time. right now raids are pretty much completely inaccessible to tons of players

      • Agree. Same reasons. Spent years raiding in EQ, EQ2, WOW, GW2, FF11 & 13, DAOC etc I know how to do partying and raiding, I just cba with the friends list hassle. I want to matchmake for these things, simple.

This is really the only thing that I don't care for too much in this game. For what is a predominately multiplayer game, the social aspects are SEVERELY lacking. I really don't see where the weekly heroic strike is difficult enough to warrant it not having a matchmaking system for it. The only reason I can see that it doesn't is that Bungie considers it too hard for randoms to complete, which is utter nonsense as I can almost solo it. There's simply no reason for there to not be an in-game chat system. I'm saying, I got my PS4 specifically for Destiny, a brand new PSN account, all that. I've managed to accumulate four friends in the time since the game has launched, two of whom work dayshift and I know IRL. I myself, work from 3pm until midnight EST, so half of my meager friends list is calling it by the time I get home and such. This game sorely needs an in-game chat system. I'm not entirely clear on how the voice chat works for Destiny, but it should be on by default for fireteams.I have yet to be successful attempting to invite random people in-game to form a fireteam for the weekly. I should be able to send a random person, not on my friends' list, a quick message along the lines of, "Weekly Heroic?". I shouldn't have to turn on my comp, go to the forums, and post a "LF2m weekly heroic" thread. Don't get me wrong, I'm still having fun farming upgrade mats, running patrols, doing strike playlists....for now, at least. I even occasionally dabble in PvP even though I'm absolutely terrible at it. I'd like to see two things: 1. The heroic weekly added to the strike playlist. If they don't want to automate it, some kind of menu that basically puts you into a list of folks that are looking for similar stuff, be it the weekly, patrols, just running around shooting the shit, whatevs....and allow us to form our own fire teams from there. Having to go outside of the game to the forums to LFM is, quite frankly, stupid. 2. An in-game chat system of some sort. I imagine that the reason for not having one is loltradechat, and from some of the PSN IDs I've seen I have no reason to doubt that. But even a drop down menu with some simple options (hello, thanks, yes/no, weekly heroic, patrol, etc.) would go a long way towards facillitating group formation. I'd even take a more robust version of something like Darks Souls' emote system, tailored for Destiny. I'm sorry, I've started to ramble. I'll let myself out :3 EDIT: Also, the clan system seems....I don't know, poorly implemented I guess. I don't know why we should have to go outside of the game to join one, as I see no option to do so in-game.
