Will faster Internet improve my PVP game?

I'm moving in a few weeks, and I'm thinking about upgrading my Internet. I currently have Verizon DSL which isn't very fast. Does someone with faster internet have an advantage over someone with slower internet in PVP? I'm actually asking this about any game in general, not just Destiny. I've tried doing some research and I keep finding conflicting information, so I'm hoping someone can finally resolve this. Also, I currently use a wireless router which is about 10 years old. Should I upgrade this as well? Or if I get new internet, should I just connect the modem straight to my console?

  • 19 ping, 65 mbps down, 25 mbps up. still see other people lag. bungie never uses dedicated servers. theres always some type of connection host with their games. best thing to do is get a direct connection to your router (wired), open your NAT (can be a process with the xbox one), and get cable internet. your ping is pointless seeing as we dont know where destiny's servers are located. just aim for a higher upload and ensure youre not killing your bandwidth with multiple connections to your internet.
