After talking to some people and hearing their thoughts on the matter I might have a way to make most people happy.
If you give people that do good on the crucible better gear then it's like giving UFC fighters steroid injections for wins in the cage. Making the losers no matter how hard they try unable to compete.
HOWEVER! You should be getting cool stuff for doing good right? Well what about doing good in PvP matches gives you a chance for rare and exclusive cosmetic items?
Class items, emblems, shaders and ships are all strictly cosmetic so why not have special ones that can only be obtained through doing good in the crucible?
Imagine seeing crazy ship with crucible logos on it while heading to a PvP match knowing you got one bad mamma jamma on your team. Or maybe seeing a emblem on the other team that sends a shiver down your spine knowing that person earned it from slaughtering countless guardians just like you.
Bungie said from the start that gear will tell a story, well I can't think of a better story to tell for the PvP crowd then "I kick @ss in the crucible! Fear me" lol
Then the strong don't always get the best gear and get even stronger but they get to show the world how bad @ss they are though cosmetic gear. Bragging rights can sometimes mean more than a fancy auto rifle or helm.
Just a thought from a mainly PvE player..

This is a great idea, I would love to see this especially as someone who regularly finishes at the tops of the boards

I feel the loot system for 6v6 game modes should be like this. (The numbers represent crucible players listed by score) 1: 55% chance of getting blue item or higher 2: 50% chance of getting blue item or higher 3: 45% chance of getting blue item or higher 4: 40% chance of getting blue item or higher 5: 45% chance of getting green item or higher 6: 40% chance of getting green item or higher Everybody has a 40% chance at getting a cosmetic (shader, ship, etc.)

Yes the loot system in PVP is broken. But the unfortunate players that always have a low kill to death ratio, we should not ignore them totally. The high end players yes should get better chance of getting gear and cosmetic items. Example, 1st should have a 40% chance of getting a legendary engram, last should get a 5% chance. Etc etc......
-
I know what ya mean mate, I've started doing less well on purpose just to win something, but then I don't like doing that cause I like doing my best and should be rewarded with at least (as you said) with cosmetic items that tell people I'm badass
-
Yea I dont have a problem with low level poor players hetting good loot. As long as they tried, and played the game. Im tired of seeing people AFK(C) and getting good or better crap than me. Im not good at crucible by any means, but I play and stay even. And I get ok loot. but you have to earn it by simply trying to do good

Edited by Skarwind: 9/23/2014 6:09:01 AMI'm okay w/ losers getting decent gear but I really think they should "earn legs and exotics." Not get carried by their team for it. Let Crucible throw them the decent blues ie. Gallahad ARs or shotguns w/ decent modifiers on them. Or even some decent +10-15 light gear. Throwing legendaries and exotics their way is kind of a kick in the nuts for those that have earned the right to "become legend." (yea i went there)

I don't mind the randomness. But the two top spots should have 1 more slot for loot rolls that only drops legendary.. and that roll should have a higher chance % chance in it. It should not guarantee epics.. It should still be random.. Just a higher % chance for the top two I also think that anyone with 0 0 0 across the board should have zero percent of any loot.

Personally think there's nothing wrong with how it's handled. Take it out completely or leave it as it is. When I see someone who sucked get a purple I think good for you, man. The same as when I see someone who owned everyone!
-
I want to earn hydraulics for my ship.
-
I'm level 25 and haven't found a legendary engram with 28 hours played, I had an exotic engram before legendary and done pvp, raids, queens challenge motif and completed all the strikes and campaign. explain that!

The cosmetic reward suggestion is neat.

Pvp is point based more points the better as long as your not giving alot up to the other team. Top player should get a 25% buff for getting items.

What if the loot was handed out based on the actions in game, number of matches played in a row, and everyone else got a lower drop rate? Example: On Control, you go 5 kills, 15 deaths, but you have 7 caps and your 5 kills are all defense kills - well that's the name of the game, you get a prize. On the other hand, you go 15 kills, 5 deaths, and 0 caps? You get nothing. In TDM, you go positive, you get a prize. You go negative, but have a lot of assists, you get a prize. You just played 3 games in a row? Higher drop rate. You were just there to get crucible points and not playing? You get nothing and a game penalty for future drops. You did something awesome and got a badge or killed the top player as the bottom player? Higer drop rate. For prizes: 1. The prizes they give for crucible gear suck. I'd rather have my vanguard gear. 2. I always hope for strange coin. every time I get an engram, I get ripped off at the CA. You could improve the prizes by adding in random crucible points or marks, ascendant shard, more motes of light, strange coins, or resources..

The shitty and long drawn out loot systems is there purely to hide the fact that there are very few exotic and legendary weapons and armour in the game.
-
Perhaps PvP shouldn't even do gear drops, just currency and rep

I went into this thread thinking it'll be another "I came first and got nothing the person who came last got a legendary, Bungie fix this" but your suggestion for cosmetic items is a proper good idea! Also, I remember when Bungie where building the hype they were like "you see a player with an exotic weapon you will know what they had to do to get it. It will tell a story" atm I see an exotic and it's like "k, they went to Xur" Great story!!
-
Great suggestion! This would be awesome.
-
The only icons next to names better be kittens and or puppies and or other random little animals or else I'm selling this game.
-
Brilliant...excellent suggestion.
-
This is a great idea. I don't play much pvp, because I usually get destroyed and I just find the whole situation really stressful, but I would love to see this implemented.
-
the random items are random gifts for participating and in no way are rewards
-
"Hahaha maybe in 6 years bruh"-Bungie
-
Good idea sir

They need to make a separate challenge system. Like monthly challenges that require you to get a high amount of wins etc. Or even something like a 250 kill spread. Sure this would be hard, so the rewards should be good. This means good/decent players would get 'limited edition' (if you like) gear. This would tell them that your not one that messes about...
