Why does farming bother people?
What is the reason some people have such a hangup with farming? Is it just the mentality of "how dare they play the game in a way I don't"?
I saw a group farming the cave as I passed through the area and can't figure out how that could have any effect on mine or anyone else's game.

Because people get an elite feeling from playing the game in what they perceive to be a "right" way. When truthfully the game is what you make it. You're no better than anyone else. And if you think so; it's a game. Chill.

1 ReplyTo everyone saying they hate it because people get better gear than by beating hard nightfall strikes and stuff. The raid has specific gear so that is where you actually have to be good for gear.

People will get mad at you for almost no reason. Especially the because of the whole mentality of "how dare they play the game in a way I don't". I used to get hate mail in Battlefield 4 for not using the same gun as everyone else. The only thing you can do is direct them to the Preparation H for their massive case of butthurt and then ignore them.

The only way this would upset me is of there was some sort of trade/market in destiny where this would alter prices. Although a market system for upgrade material would be great!

I myself don't see anything wrong with it,If someone wants to farm I say let farm,I mean it's not like there destroying anybodies gameplay but doing it.But Ya know haters are gonna hate.

I think it's because they don't want to do it, or don't have the patience, so they call it 'unfair' because other people can tolerate the mindlessness of doing it all the time.

If anything, I call it hustling, not a bad thing by the way. I personally don't have a problem with it, as said by OP, it doesn't affect my gameplay in the slightest. If you want to take the rough road, all hats off to you. If you want to take it easy, congratulations. The world is always going to judge what you do, no matter what you do. The hating isn't going anywhere, so live (or play) the way that suits you best.

I've done it once or twice so I don't have a problem with it. Sometimes when I see someone at the skywatch cave I sit in the cave and watch as they rage. Pretty funny

The game downright encourages farming with the skewed RNG Crucible drop system, and the fact that Strikes give little to no rewards for sometimes an hour of effort. In an hour of farming I can get 2 legendaries and 10 rares. In the Vanguard Tiger Cerberus Vae III strike, which takes usually 45 minutes, I get maybe 2 or 3 rares, if I am lucky 4. I have never seen a legendary engram drop in the game AT ALL outside of farming. Other than this problem though I think Destiny is great, and as long as it is intended I will farm on the weekends, then play badass Strikes with my friends on weekday evenings.

If farming was such a serious issue, I'm certain Bungie would have made an announcement via homepage, Twitter, etc. about them cracking down on farmers and finding a solution by now. Game has been out for what, 10 days now? Farming has been around since pretty much day 1 and Bungie DOES KNOW about it. I believe they hardly care about it as it doesn't affect gameplay at all for the mass. Those complaining, reporting, etc. are just a bunch of babies. Bungie added this to the game, they don't care about what methods you use to acquire it as long as it's not hacking/glitching. As far as I can see, none of this is a glitch, this is all game mechanics. To all those reporting and complaining, you're logic on the reason it's bad is like saying "I'm going to report you for fighting and hiding behind a rock because Bungie designed this game to be next to the enemy, not hiding!" Bunch of retards.

What's the problem? Us people go have lives and jobs can't spend hours and hours for meager rewards. Farming is the way to play. In fact it's so easy and set up I think it's encouraged. If you have ever played an MMORPG you know farming is a way of life. Get over it scrub

12 RepliesIts the principle that they are not earning there gear through the challenge of combat, they didn't sweat through a tough strike boss, they didn't leap into danger to save a team member, they just exploiting a loot drop system.
