I, and many others, are probably never going to play Vault of Glass.

I am on Xbox One. I only have 5 friends with an Xbox One. Only 3 have Destiny. To get all to play at the same time is a miracle in itself. Not all are level 20 or higher. Without Raid matchmaking I don't see myself ever playing through the Vault of Glass. I haven't even bothered to level any higher with my gear since it won't matter. All I play now is the Crucible, which is just an atrocious multiplayer. Many other people have this problem. I don't see how no matchmaking is a smart move here, I don't see it at all. So what I might not complete it playing with randoms, that doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to play it. Why in the hell would you make one of the biggest pieces of endgame content so difficult to access for players? It's like Bungie wants me to stop playing Destiny.

  • If you don't have the time to find people on forums, the content was not for you. Have you seen how difficult it is? It's not that people need to be literally friends, it's that your fireteam needs to be people you planned with in advance. An entry barrier is legitimate. Ex: why can't you do higher level strikes at low level.

    • I cannot access it. I dont have the friends playing it either. I am level 25 and will never be able to do this raiding. I would love a matchmaking ability. However, this game has come to a dead end with me. Strikes are the same after playing each one three times. Sometimes, I get to play the same strike three times in a row anyway. This game is a mess. I do love aspects of it, but in no way does this game match the gameplay and versatility of Bungies previous releases.

      • I would actually be curious to see the percentage of players who participate compared to the total population, meaning what percentage of the game base population is taking part in the Raid. I, myself, am not. I work weekends (11 hour shifts) and am off during the week. Since the VoG resets on Tuesday, in the middle of my off days, it would only give me maybe one day to deal with it, and I am given to understand it requires several days to finish. Additionally, most of my friends are as casual as I am, so it is unlikely the people I prefer to play with would be able/willing to dedicate hours and hours of their life to the Raid. Happy for the people who this content is for. Y'all have fun with it. =)

I was a little worried about that and also being semi-stuck at level 23. I started running the strike list LVL 22 and 24 and if I worked well with he other players I sent them a friend request. I sometimes didn't play well or had to quit cause if real life -- i should play a tank not a warlock-- however most people accepted my friend request. Just remember most people are just like you- just want to have fun and chill out. Be the solution.

      • At first I was against mm for raids. I understood, and still understand why. But now I'm feeling a little split on the issue. They say you have to work together etc, but why not just put it in there. It won't effect people that are against mm in raids. They will still find their friends or whatever to do them. Just my 2 cents...

      • I really want to play it, I am having trouble getting to 26, I'm lvl 22 currently, almost 23.. No matter how much I play it seems like nothing is ever enough.. Not complaining though, I would like to do the harder strikes and get more marks and rank to get gear, but I always get matched up with people that are lower than me. And I have the worst luck wht engrams and trying to get rare and legendary things, so that doesn't help either.

      • .......uh...uhhhhhh... Only 4 of my real life friends play Destiny, so that makes five people that I know in real life. They are also not leveled for raids as they are no where close to as "dedicated"
addicted
as I am. So I, a 28, could never play VoG right? Oh look at that...I've played it multiple times...oh my goodness, look at that, I invited someone to my Fireteam to play with, then we became ps friends, then our circle of friends grew and grew...

      • Bungie has already stated that the Vault is for the dedicated, hardcore players that Destiny has drawn in. Set yourself from the crowd and commit to trying to get in. Some will, others won't.

      • You can, you probably just don't want to put in the extra time to go about leveling up, and finding people that have the time to do the raid. There are literally people posting everyday needing others to raid with. I know you are stubborn (I was to!) and want things done your way, but you should get a little more entwined with the community. There are players nay real good players here that can help you.

      • speaking from experience, if you can't even make the commitment to find a group without having to rely on automated matchmaking, there is no way in hell you were going to finish the raid any time soon, if at all, if they had put matchmaking in.

        • If you just want it handed to you...then no, you won't play VoG. Plenty of players have created ways to link up and look for fire team members. I'd personally not want to go into a raid with random people that prob haven't even read strategy guides. Then, after spending 7-10 hours, complain about it being too hard, "ermahgerd, nerf VoG!!"

        • This is an ironic post. Your post on this forum is that you won't ever be able to do the raid. Had you posted asking for a group that is doing the raid, you could potentially be doing the raid right now. Assuming you have the level and gear. Oh, the humanity.

Actually, go to trueachievements.com (Xbox) or truetrophies.com (PlayStation) (they are run by the same people). Even if you are not particularly interested in obtaining achievements, its a great place to sign up for multiplayer co-op sessions. You can review the gaming session feedback for each person that has joined. That way you have the ability to avoid players that have bad feedback rather than taking a leap of faith and inviting a totally unknown individual to a party. Not only that, Microsoft and trueachievements.com have joined together and are making an Xbox One app that will integrate with the social and achievement apps and probably incorporate a calendar to sign up for sessions.

        • A message to half of you: it shouldn't be necessary to join a random clan on the Internet in order to play content. At college, I didn't have to join a fraternity to partake in classes.

I completed Vault of Glass yesterday with people I found in a group on here (private group). It took 9 hours and 47 minutes, with a couple of 15 minute breaks in between pulls. We had two level 28s, two level 27s, and a 26 (though he had to drop at the end and he was replaced with another 28). It's an extremely difficult raid, especially if you're in there for the first time. I cannot see this being a good experience if matchmaking is implemented. Why? Because I constantly see people who aren't even level 26 looking for groups on here. If you aren't the same level as the mobs, you will be a detriment to the group since your bullets won't be doing as much damage. More often than not, those same people try to join strike playlists that are two levels higher than they are and they constantly die or barely contribute to the group. Two, the difficulty alone is going to be a roadblock for people. It takes quite a bit of coordination and communication, and you need people that are able to learn how to do their job effectively. Thankfully there are checkpoints at each point in the raid, but it is very unforgiving if people make mistakes. The only way I can see Bungie making the decision to add matchmaking is if they apply some heavy nerfs and change the way voice chat works.
