Just quit.

I can only imagine that Bungie, a company who has written into the book of gaming for the better over five solid times, is feeling incredibly disappointed that they haven't built a fan base strong enough to support them through the earliest stage of a game they are clearly infinitely proud of giving to us. One week? You're tossing your hands up after one week? The week that most games spend fine tuning their code to keep everyone online for more than an hour at time? I'll never dismiss someone's opinion on anything, as it's 100% theirs and should never be subject to ridicule of others, but the lack of sticking with something that you were endlessly excited about is terrible. THAT is something that can be spoken to. There is a meta at work here that doesn't take place in the game, but in life. It's the ideology that you don't know what you're talking about if you can allow yourself to be fully pleased with something. It's become such a sickening norm that someone can refuse to allow time for development on a game that is meant to waste time. I play games in my free time so I'm not immune to what I'm about to say. ALL GAMES ARE A WAS OF TIME. They are entertainment. If you want to kill some time and shoot things, great. Develop a character? Great. If a game isn't enjoyable, then put it down. And we all understand that. But that's not the issue here, is it? It's the time element. 80% of these complaints, at their most simple cores, boil down to having their time wasted. The minute you turn your console on, you are initiating an agreement with yourself that you are about to waste time. If Destiny's matchmaking, communication, legendary drop rates, story elaboration, and delivery were all spot on by everyone's standards, the amount of time you spend in that couch is wasted regardless. I'm not looking down on anyone. I will be playing this game, wasting time, getting dorrito powder mixed with hand sweat crusted onto my controller for months to come. But don't get on here and cry about how your time is so valuable that you are insulted every time you have to pick up a green engram. This isn't a job, so cry to your boss at your day job. It will get you a lot further in the day than sobbing about being at point A in cyberspace rather than point B. Honestly, because of immature intolerance like this, maybe the game will be the first to corner a niche community in the market worth playing with.
