How to get Loot
ok so I have been trying for the past week now to get past level twenty, and as most of you may or may not know, the loot system in this game is garbage, but everywhere I go people are passing me quickly in levels/gear so I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

I'd agree with grinding your rep up and marks as well. I just finished full legendary and will be able to push lvl 27 tonight through lvling up gear. Buying through vanguard and faction is really your best bet. Plus you will get loot along the way to help the process plus the chance for exotic bounty. I've got some cool things along the way like an exotic helm for a warlock though I am hunter. It's nice to know though that when I decide to make that warlock my lvl 20 will jump with a good advantage of having that already. Also I'm on the last mission for the exotic hand cannon, Thorn. All this happened from just trying to get ranks and marks up to purchase gear.

Another way is to just rep grind until you can buy equipment with light. Also generally speaking if run some 20+ lol strikes you should get [i]something[/i] with light on it. I feel super pumped when I get even [i]one[/i] drop with light.

I joined the strike list myself... Was slow at first then one strike gave me enough to hit 22. 24 to 25 was the hardest so far for me

get crucible and vanguard reputation/marks and buy the gear. otherwise collect strange coins trough strike missions and buy some exotic stuff from xur. hes coming back tomorrow btw. dont give up
