Lack of matchmaking isn't the real problem.

I think matchmaking for raids/strikes is not the end all be all or even the best solution to the problem. Raids should and traditionally across the genre have been invite groups only. However, there needs to be in-game devices so that teams can be arranged via tower lobbies or some other in-game method. This will allow PUGs to at least ATTEMPT the VoG without having to leave the game and head to the forum to set this up. An Example, let just say someone has a few hours to play destiny, what is so horrible about them finding several others in the game world (using in game LFG or some variant) who also have this available time right now and group and go? Not every fireteam has to clear the instance, and if they have fun wiping or attempting it, that was their choice and no harm or foul to anyone else playing hardcore and farming the instance. I say this because if you want to actually farm the instance for gear, do the extra work and find a raiding clan, don't use this method, it's simple. Putting this raid thing aside the real problem is the comm system that seems to rely wayyy to heavily on the console OS/forums. People game for immursion into the world, and having to leave the PS4/Xb to log-in to a forum to arrange even simple strikes like the weekly heroic is assinine, Imagine having to do this in WoW or any other online dungeon crawler for simple dungeons.. When you think of the old school raids of vanilla WoW/EQ etc. it was something that Guilds did together and coordination was made possbile through guild channels and recruiting that were in-game. If you wanted to raid you joined a raiding guild thats purpose was to progress in end game content. Destiny lacks social integration to a point that I find it frustrating. It is because of this were seeing all this gripe about no matchmaking. People don't want to deal with a forum, I know that I personally don't want to spend a valuable 20-45 minutes of gaming time in orbit waiting for people who are currently playing to reply to my post to group up and go. (the ones who would be down to go right away wouldn't be on the forums, theyd be in game, imagine that..) So, searching to remedy my anti-social problem I joined a clan as Bungie wanted me to do so I could achieve this community they promised thing is, I don't even feel like I am in one sometimes because I cannot see who is online in my clan, nobody is chatting with each other and planning activities in the game. Its a headache to have to friend everyone on PSN to make a fireteam first. Why can't the game just recognize were in a clan and show the members on the roster tab? Why can't you invite someone to join your clan in the game?, all this should be able to be done seamlessly. Having to use the console OS to do basic functions in a game is a work around and not a solution, bungie said this game was social game, but I feel like all the social aspects are achieved through the OS or forums (hell even using OS party chat makes more sense when setting up a group than their fireteam, so I can be doing something else while we wait for others rather than sitting in orbit, the fireteam could just be established right before we zone) Since I'm on a rant here, I dont understand why when I'm in an instance with players I have to reload the map when I accept an invite to the fireteam (I AM IN THE DAMN ZONE WITH THEM!) Especially if I just want to help someone out really quick, then return to my own doings. You want a community? this is how you create one. *guardian runs over to you and waves* "Hey, do you mind helping me take down this named mob for my quest?" (if destiny had a way to ask such a thing, o wait, hurr durr brb posting on the forum to find help) "Sure, invite me to your fireteam and we can zone in together" *XXXX has invited you to join their group* > you then proceed to zone in kill the mob, and you leave after. perhaps making a new friend to run strikes with in the future. TL;DR -Everything I find wrong in this game stems from the communication channels and everything seeming like a half-ass work around. I love the game and I've sunk a good deal of time into it, but it really ruins the immersion when I'm constantly using the forums and PS OS to accomplish anything more difficult than a random strike playlist. -It seems like Bungie took an arrow to the knee when trying to keep trolls and prepubescent boys with terrible mics at bay. It is an online game, they come with it and not being able to communicate in game is causing more greif and pain than its worth. Take the bad with the good IMO. Edit: If the ban hammer is strong, people would be more complacent and behave. kids wouldnt want their moms 60 dollar investment to go down the tube for being an arse in game. Coz then what?1!! I'm 12 and have no money! my 2cent$ /rant /discuss :)

  • I think they're right not to include it for raid, but I agree it should be an option for weekly nightfall. I play a lot more than my close friends which means in currently three ish levels higher than they are. So sometimes I want to be able to just jump into a group and meet people whilst doing the weekly nightfall.
