watching the clash of CoD Halo fanboys and harcore MMORPG players is kind of funny isnt it?
so theres a lot of stuff going on; trade requests, chat, loot drop, raid, match making, heroics, rewards, and so forth. and seeing the people who thought this was just another FPS fight with the people who thought it was another MMO kind of tickles me. evryone has the right to their own opinion of course but personally you have to look at things for what they are and how-to improve that without making Destiny into Borderlands WoW CoD. sure elements are similar even the same but Destiny is its own deal and it doesn't want to be anything but that if you want to improve bring your problems and gripes... or solutions, do that. but also accept that this is something youve never seen before and go from there first.
heres my take.
first of all the fact that no matter where you are you can overlap with others amazes me. level 24 strikeers can wonder through regular patrol areas and run into low level peeps and enemies and help out along their way? whaaat? amazing never change that.
trading: so many people are going crazy for this, honestly it would have to be auction house based or something otherwise the point of grinding and getting out there and playing for missions and bounties would be lost. I peronally think no, but it could happen.
chat: yes for this however my choice is that they add a chat request option through the interact menu to enable chat IN THE WORLD outside a fireteam or without disbanding your fireteam. in the tower however I think a notice board or scrolling tape on screen to leave approved messages for raid and heroic requests could be usedul.
loot: go... farm kill things and earn your reward. nuff said.
raid and match making: this is possible but hard because raids are saved via fireteam leader per week the only way I see that working is if the progress was saved per checkpoint and match making searched in that respect not the same six peeps to no avail. its a good idea but a hard one to figure out and it undoubtedly take some time to get.
rewards: they could use some improvement the "chance" reward for epic players or crucible matches kind of sucks, but it also makes thing frustrating or fun for everyone not just the teleporting shotgun weilding warlocks.

Hey there Biigs I agree with you, Destiny is its own thing and although it does borrow elements from other FPS and MMOs alike I think its the first of its kind to actually blend the two genres. Personally I like calling it an MMOFPS because honestly it kinda is. I'm not sure if its because I'm a fan of both MMOs and FPS but I'm really loving this game and how it is. (I'm actually in FFXIV as well Lol) My friends and I just love going through strike missions or just wrecking it up in the crucible. But I think a big help to the game would be a chat function in the world like you said. Or at least in the particular area that you're in. It would definitely help match making and finding people to party with a whole lot easier. Even a miniature forum in game would be pretty neat too, but not sure how they can implement that. Either way it would definitely help in the social department. Keyboards can always be plugged into the console so I don't think its too much trouble for the players.

I am loving the game. Really the ONLY change I would make is adding the chat option. Have it so that you can use the chat from the mobile companion app though. Having to use the D-pad to move the cursor on a keynoard is a terrible way to chat. Thats why I use my PSN app on my phone for PSN messages. I WAS irritated with the reward loot for crucible matches. I SUCK at the PVP, but I kept getting rewards when players leading the match would get NOTHING. The more I think about it though, the more it makes sense to be random, otherwise I would NEVER have the possibility of random loot rewards in crucible. Meanwhile the tops players woukd just get stronger and stronger.
