Crucible Inbalances (not a ragefest)

I fully understand that Destiny's Crucible is a new form of competitive multiplayer and should not be compared to other games' competitive multiplayer modes. That is not what I am intending to accomplish with this post. I am ecstatic to finally see something that isn't copy-pasted from other shooters. I have had so much fun playing Destiny, and I love the game, but there are some glaring flaws in the Crucible that I would like to see changed. Now with that out of the way... This is a list of things that I personally think are wrong with the crucible in no particular order. I've almost exclusively played as the Defender Titan class so it may very well be biased. -The Loot It's randomly distributed, I am well aware. I do mostly play the crucible just for fun and I would still play even if there was no loot. But Bungie's whole idea with the game is to reward you for your skill. The Crucible has been promised to be a place to earn jaw dropping gear, and to crush other Guardians. In order to crush other Guardians you need to have earned some good gear, so I don't think it's wrong to assume/want it to work vice versa. I agree that the weaker players could use the boost, but the players at the top of the scoreboard have earned it. Doing it randomly is equivalent to flipping a coin with your neighborhood hobo to decide who should get your paycheck. -The Supers They're overpowered. It's that simple. I say this knowing that they are supposed to be overpowered. It's too much, almost all of them are a guarantee to get you out of any situation you may have gotten yourself into. It takes all the work and effort Bungie has put into promoting teamwork, all the work my teammates and I have put into our strategy, the work we've put into getting him into a position where we have the upper hand, and says "-blam!- it". With the press of two buttons he becomes nearly invincible and all we can do is wait for our inevitable deaths. And what's worse, it seems about as random as the loot distribution. There's no possible way to tell if a player has his super ready unless you take into account their armor bonuses, all of their kills, their skill tree selections, etc. My death should not be the reward another player gets for just waiting for his timer to count down. If I wasn't able to do it a couple times per game as well this would be a game-breaker for me, but even when I do use mine I feel like I've cheated another player for a kill. I feel on par with noob-tubers and corner-campers. They're an amazing and unique part of the game, but I just wish they took more skill to use. I wish I at least knew when another player had his super charged so I could maybe possibly try to plan around it. I also would like to see a mode where Supers were disabled. -The Blade Dancer Yea, I'm gonna get a lot of flak for this one. If you use only this sub-class then you probably have no idea how frustrating it is to face it. It's completely built to own Crucible matches. I feel like I read something along the lines of "If we see everyone going for one weapon or one class in the game, we'd try to do something about it" in a Weekly Update. I have seen this super hunt down entire teams spread out across mid-sized maps. I've seen a Hunter take more than an entire auto rifle magazine from a Warlock hopelessly fighting for his life as the Hunter missed 6 Razor's Edge bursts, and finally one hit killed him with the 7th. The only thing that defeats this super is the user's own overconfidence in it's abilities which, luckily, happens more than you'd think. -Class Stat Differences (This could be pure bias, and is going to make me seem like I have a vendetta against the hunter class, but I'm just using the two extremes) I really feel like there is no difference between the amount of damage a Titan and a Hunter can take. I feel just as frail as the other classes with my beefy Titan build, but without the speed and dexterity. Maybe I'm wrong though, I've done absolutely no research about this, but either way, I (shocker) feel they aren't very equally balanced. -Fusion Rifles I don't really have much else to add. I don't use them because they feel so cheap. I've made over half a lobby leave on more than one occasion trying to get Fusion Rifle related bounties. One-shot range is too long. --blam!-ing Nobody Uses Their Mic Please please please make a Mic-Only game mode or something for the love of Chris (Weeds reference lololol) I wish I didn't even have to add this, but these are obviously just my opinions about the game so far. It's not a review. It's not a list of things that absolutely have to be changed right now or bungie is the gayest. It's just a list of things that some guy with a long background of game-playing and no background in game-developing made because he died one too many times in the Crucible. TL;DR - Don't post Thanks.

  • Yep! I totally agree! There should be mutator that allows a vanilla style of gameplay. As if you were like playing Halo 1 back in the good ol days. No supers, no skill perks (except for grenade, and double jump), and no gun perks. Just pure skill with the weapons you feel comfortable with. I mean I assume most people will go for the Auto Rifle and Shotgun loadout, but those who try variety will feel most satisfied when getting a frag.

  • I mean no disrespect, but I think you should go back to CoD. You say your not comparing it to other shooters, but your post says differently. The PvP in this game is perfect, it is different, but perfect. Think I don't know my fps... check my psn.. I have max leveled every cod/bf shooter. This game is freaking awesome. Even the pvp, I don't even own every single game yet, I get killed by "OP" super moves, but I am not QQ. Loot system.. maybe.

    • -The Supers Their not too overpowered, you have no idea i have been killed as a blade dancer using my special by a single person with a shotgun or a auto rifle who isnt a scrub. and you have no idea how many times i have shut down people in the middle of using their powers -The Blade Dancer only shit teams can be killed by a blade dancer special, unless its a very very skilled blade dancer. your range is like 0 with only melees, anyone who isnt a total scrub can start shooting and shut you down without many issues unless your in a very close quarter zone like a narrow hallway with many turns -Class Stat Differences they are balanced, you might just not be used to dying fast as your used to your "beefy build" and since they are balanced for pvp your much less beefy -Fusion Rifles fusion rifles are fine, there just needs to be less ammo for them so players cant use their special weapon through the entire match so, i kinda disagree with everything you said ._.

      • Fusion rifles need to be heavy weapons, blade needs lower shields, special ammo needs to be harder to come by

      • Why the hell are you claiming the whole point of the game is to reward you for your skill? What gave you that impression? There is nothing in the game that rewards you based on your skill. Not strikes, not the pve loot, and not PvP. It is all a random distribution.

      • I usually don't like to gripe about what's unbalanced about a game, I feel like everything pretty much has a weakness, and those who choose not to use the "over-powered" weapons just need to learn to adapt. HOWEVER, I agree with most of what you said. There are some things in the crucible that clearly dominate other things. Fusion rifles are one of them. They need to adjust the "special ammo". There is way to much of it and it is too easy to get. You can use your special weapon the entire match and not really worry about ammo, and that seems a bit off to me. As far as the blade-dancer, I haven't necessarily had too many problems with this class (I play Titan) but from what I am reading online, it's only going to be a matter of time until pretty much everyone is going to be using this class making the game awful. Only time will tell if Bungie decides to fix these issues or not, but I will not be spending much time in the crucible due to some of these frustrating elements. In fact, I won't be spending much more time with Destiny period. I'm already pretty bored of it's repetitive nature. October has too many good games coming out for me to care.

        • I don't mind the supers. For the most part....a bad player or someone having a bad game will get it once, maybe twice a game. Although annoying they are a great part of the game. Nothing like bringing a titan within inches of death only for the blue shield goes up to save himself. Bladedancer is ridiculous I have put 3 shotgun blast at close range on 1 and still lost the fight. With that being said Destiny is by far the best game in a while and hope they keep the updates coming in

        • Voice chat is not available in match making, including the Crucible, only in premade fireteams. My only real gripe with the Crucible is that everybody and their moms are using autorifles. I can counter everything else, but haven't found a way to evade them (yet?). Also, I seriously suck at some maps, need to train more.
