Engram Farming Ruining Destiny
I was patrolling Earth yesterday, collecting Spinmetal and going through the missions, when I came across 4 or 5 Guardians, Level 20+, stood in the same location shooting what seemed like an empty cave. I joined in for a few minutes and when I went into the cave the floor was covered in Engrams.
I have one Legendary piece of armour and two Legendary weapons, through playing strikes and patrols etc. and they suddenly seem pretty meaningless when after a few hours shooting a cave, someone can be loaded out with Legendary armour and weapons.
I hope something is done about this soon, as it takes a lot of the fun out of the game.
Well this obviously isn't a problem for the majority of people. For those asking about the location of the cave:
Go to the building where the Fallen and the Hive are fighting each other, up the steps and through the room where the Captain is and exit the building there and you'll find the cave. Just look for the group of Guardians shooting at it.

I for one do not farm and would much rather fight for what I get to get the most of the game. That's what is intended, but some people just want to take an easier route and that's fine. To ask for a nerf to farming, would therefore ask for even more difficult drop tables. It is solely up to each individual player to play as they wish. Tolerance in gaming also includes others gaming methods. If someone punched in a cheat code for infinite ammo for example, then that is on them. If you do not like it, then simply do not participate. Enjoy your hard work and rewards. Not everyone is the same. Always remember that fact.

11 RepliesMy question is what is so fun and challenging about standing in one spot and shooting for hours? Yeah you got loot but wow, really hard challenge there... You didn't actually find it or do anything special or what I would consider fun... To each there own, but I still don't see the hype. Either you got the game to play it or you just want to say you got high level quick. I pity those because I've had hours of epic fun, and not a one did I stay in one spot shooting. So much to see and explore, over and over again. Why do people like that play games that have so much more to them? Why don't they play Clash if Clans or Candy Crush Saga... Lol

During the beta me and another group of people discovered the cave instantly respawning each enemy after the kill. What made it great was the heavy ammo drops and super charging quickly. So I used some ether seeds and made some glitter. Tbh I thought it would have been patched.

The rest of the time all you get out of this game is a bunch of lone wolfs running around doing their own thing and half the time your completely alone on the map. Even the public events are more often then not solo events. What time I farmed that cave spot yesterday with others we all worked together farming, we all worked together to do the public events and we all worked together taking out the huge Fallen/Hive event that spawns there randomly. All of that is more fun than running around playing the game "normal" in an empty world. If anything Bungie needs to add more spots like that to give people something to actually do in groups in this currently limited content game.

Ive looted for something like 10 hours this week...and ive nothing to show for it...relax and let people play based on their likes and situatons ( i have 2 kids and cant play during the week without being interrupted)...cave looting is only way i can get some grind in....

Well i tried doing strike missions and crucible for loot the legit way,but seems i can only seem to get in 1 strike before the servers kick me in the next one before i finish it,it being a random playlist strike i cant just simply join my friend again and pick up where i left off and even if i do i get screwed out of loot,so yeah farming is a safer way of getting at least some -blam!-in blues for your efferts.

I did this for about an hour and if I was lucky I got 1 purple and a handful of blues, none of which decrypted into anything good. Most of what does drop is just green garbage you can break down for parts/glimmer. Also love how you disguise your own farming as "collecting spin metal" lol.

I went there and got legendary engrams and received nothing but rares or uncommons from the cryptarch. I also would like to say I've never gotten any legendary item from drops, yet have 3 legendary pieces of armor. I also agree with Condolar. This is someone who is upset that he's not getting what he wanted from the cryptarch. Everyone is upset with the cryptarch. Just deal with it.

Maybe in the long run, you might be affected during Iron Banner if you so choose to participate, but then again, if you don't have the gear to cut it, you shouldn't be crying about why you're getting waxed in matches. You're [b]farming[/b] spinmetal in order to either gain reputation, or improve your gear. These people are [b]farming[/b] gear to improve their light level in order to progress in the game as well into higher difficulties. Where's the difference?

Damn moron, any game with RPG elements will have farming/grinding. Don't like it? Don't get involved! Farming/grinding is not cheating, if it was cheating then would it be so easily accessible? I would recommend you try it out but then you would probably complain when you'd been at it for half an hour and come out with nothing but uncommon kit.

You have around 60% of posters saying that the drop rate is terrible, and out of that bunch, probably close to 90% saying that the degradation of legendary to rare is unfair, etc..and you're over here saying that what other people do somehow ruins the game for you. This community is incredible.

i don't see your problem with this, if others want to do 4 hours of sitting in front of a cave..let them, that won't kill your experience at all ( even more as there is no item trading etc.)
