I don't think it's a problem with the weapon types themselves, but more along specific ones. Take my Infective, for instance. It takes multiple shots at point blank to take someone down.

  • I ran an easy 3+ kda the other night using only a void fusion rifle for the stupid thorn bounty. Meanwhile my average KDA with an assault rifle (which is apparently super op) is like 1.2 or something. People can pretend that kind of stuff makes sense, but there's a point where hipfire weapons that 1 shot people are just blatantly broken compared to guns that you actually have to aim and get headshots with to effectively kill. IB4 all the people who spam that stuff daily goes off on rants in response to me. OMG U SO LAME WANT NURFS ALL OVA!!

  • If everyone has access to said weapons, what makes them overpowered?

  • Its all about playing smartly and not dumbly running into close quarter fights without a proper weapon. Its about playing the strengths of your weapon setup and avoiding the weaknesses. If you are using shotgun then of course you will have the upper hand in close quarter fights, its to be expected, of course you will be killed if you run with a shotgun out in the open. So its up to you to go with a weapon setup that'sgood all around or to focus in long range fights or close quarter fights and to play your strengths smartly. You can't complain shotguns are op when you run inside a building knowing full well an enemy is waiting inside in the corner waiting for you with a shotty, and you enter with a pulse or scount, thats just dumb

    • Relatively advanced player here. I only used the Fusion Rifle in PvE situations up until some time yesterday when I decided to take it into the Crucible. I had been wrecked by it multiple times so I figured, why not? After picking it up, getting a feel for it, and successfully implementing it multiple times for kills, I encountered a hunter who had a 100% success rate at strafing out of my shots. And since I observed him doing such a thing, I have not been killed by a single fusion rifle... I just strafe the person. Very strong weapon, very easy to avoid with the right mentality. Perfectly balanced. Now the shotgun on the other hand....
is also totally fine.
• IMO, the shotgun behaves as it should. But, I personally think the fusion rifle should be on par, damage-wise, with the sniper rifle.

Sorry but i have to say the fusion rifle is op, and all the "counters" for it are grade A bs. fusion rifle instant kills close to midrange, ontop of that its easy to aim, only people who will miss are those who barely played a fps. Theres even a couple guys who went out of there way to test the fusion rifle to find it is the most powerful gun in the game. Ontop of that the proof is infront of everyone most of the time if someone is using a fusion rifle he is in first or second easily. The charge time is laughable due to some fusion rifles take like 3 seconds to charge ontop of that if you know the radar you can easily precharge making it go off faster than you can take out there shields. If fusion rifle had a longer charge time or made it so you cannot precharge it would be balanced. As soon as fusion rifles are nerfed more primarys will be useful. shotgun on the other hand, its instant kill close up most engagements i have with it im almost dead before i get the kill, unless i get the jump on them. How ever camping doors like noob with a shotgun makes it op. I have played alot of destinys pvp sense alpha, i have leveled 3 characters to 20 with pvp bountys. I want primarys to be more useful but right now only autorifle is.

    • I think both are fine and I think both are cheap. I feel dirty running wrong with a fusion rifle one sitting people, but at the same time, you can't afford to miss. Its a little slow to fire and if you're more than 15 feet away it's almost completely useless. Same with the shotgun and that's how it should be. Auto riffles on the other hand.....
jk I like those too
I reckon that neither are really OP. They're just very powerful and relatively easy to use, whereas the sniper rifle is quite tricky to use. With that said though, I would support a nerf to the fusion rifle so that it's impossible to one-shot people in the crucible.
