bladedancer or gunslinger

So my hunter just reached lvl 15 yesterday and i was just wondering if i should even waste time on the Blade-dancer subclass. I see people all the time on crucible sprinting around the map knifing the crap out of stuff. It looks pretty BA, but i'm not sure what to do. What should i choose...

  • I didn't think I'd like it at first (by virtue of really really liking the gunslinger class) but the second I switched I never looked back. All 3 blade dancer grenades are better than any single gun slinger grenade. Bladedancer gets blink as well which is tricky to use at first. You will over/under jump lots of platforms but after you spend some time with it it's head and shoulders better than double jump. Many more useful applications for blink than simply getting A to B. Blink strike is handy but honestly I prefer throwing knife. The good thing about blink strike is the upgrades that latch onto it further down the subclass. Faster regen, extra damage from behind, life steal etc. It becomes handy. The invisibility skills are nice too I don't run them in pvp though but in pve they are group savers. For example I was doing nightfall last night and we were getting hammered my Titan died post super so he was right in the middle of everything. I simply crouched down and gained invisibility for around 5 Seconds which was more than enough to get out from cover, over to my downed teammate and revive before I got my ass blown off. The only bad thing about the subclass Is that the Super is pretty much useless against most strike bosses. Getting near them is not a good idea and if you can't get in close you can't arc blade them. The best application of arc blade in pve is for taking out mobs of weaker enemies that pop up during boss the boss fights so your teammates don't have to. Sorry for the wall of text. At the end of the day it's up to you. Blade dancer suits my play style so I like that more than gunslinger but it's all a matter of personal preference. You should definitely check it out. Level it up a bit and see what you think

  • Do both. You can do an infinite throwing knife class with the gunslinger, which I'm going to run once I max it. Skill tree allows for instantly reset melee power with prescision throwing knife kills and a perk allows a backup knife. Bladedancer on the other hand lets you be a ninja. Both are just too cool for me to pass up.

  • I um'ed and argh'ed between the 2 as I didn't really want to spend time levelling up another subclass.......by my god, am I glad I did. That bladedancer is friggin' awesome, especially in Control. Activate your super and drop into a control point and wrech havoc. I had 4 peeps on one control this morning and I just wrecked them all. So satisfying

  • Gunslinger is a more logical choice for bosses etc. because bladedancer will most likely die by getting close unless it kills everything. Both are good in PvP in my opinion. However, I think bladedancer is better. It's fair to say golden gun will, on average, net you 3 kills. For bladedancer, you can keep going, and you can't really miss. Maybe use Gunslinger for bigger maps. I don't know how far into golden gun you are, but the throwing knife perks were what I was really excited for. They ended up being a disappointment to me, and I wish I has gone into bladedancer sooner.

  • Gunslinger is better for bosses than bladedancer, both kick ass in PVP. Usually everyone just goes there sub-class anyways.

      • Use both, they're actually both really good as long as you stay to what they're designed for. Cqc-bd Ranged-gs

Bladedancer is great and just as powerful if not not more powerful than the gunslinger regardless of who you are fighting as long as you choose the right gear for your style of play, I prefer higher int. I'm still learning so maybe someone who as sweated off it can explain more.

      • I use Bladedancer for both PvE and PvP. You should level them both out though; it's not hard to do.
