So, now that it's out, I can't do it. I have no friends online at the moment. None at an appropriate level at least. So... what am I supposed to do? Why for the love of good game design is there NO option to join with other random players? Why is there no matchmaking option? I haven't had much opportunity to level with my friends already since I'm always the fourth odd man out, and now that the raid is out, I have to hope and pray that they get on when I'm on otherwise I just can't do it. I REALLY want to like this game, but you guys keep making it SO difficult. I want the raid gear, but I'm pretty sure you've designed the raids with six people in mind. Six people I may not be able to gather at the same time.
I just don't understand why there is no matchmaking for the raid. You have it for the strikes, why not the raid? This is one part of the numerous reasons I will NEVER classify this as an MMO. You guys keep doing everything in your power to make sure this multiplayer has nothing massive, or really all the multiplayer about it. I did all of the campaign solo because my friends and I are at different levels, so that's not multiplayer. I don't count public events because I keep having to solo them since there is no system to let other players on the planet know it's happening unless you're already on top of it (which is a serious fault by the way). I don't count the tower because the most I can do with other players is dance and usually I just care about turning stuff in to the mostly silent vendors. I barely count strikes since every other game with a similar component has four or five players fighting through waves of baddies, so the three players of this feels slightly underwhelming. The only thing multiplayer about this game is the Crucible.
Please, PLEASE add matchmaking to the raid system. I need it to have any lasting longetivity to this game. The plot has lost me, the strikes have lost me and I am utterly bored of patrol grinding. Getting raid gear should not rest entirely on how many friends I happen to have online, and since you've done EVERYTHING in your power to make it as difficult as possible to make new friends, that's all I have left. I'm left out.

I agree with you 100% on the matchmaking, but your friends sound like dicks playing without you lol.

I agree! Not everybody is going to have six friends with Destiny. Matchmaking please. And more chat options.

This has long been a discussion before the game released and I've always been on the side of matchmaking. Give people the option to use it if they can't create a group large enough

I agree. Yes, it will be harder. But for -blam!-s sake I don't care. L:ET ME DO THE CHALLENGE.
