Banned for no reason, please help!

I was recently playing a strike mission with my friend, when I was disconnected, and then told that my account was banned. I don't understand what I did wrong, I have never hacked, stolen, or treated anyone wrongfully. I love this game, and would like to get back to playing as soon as possible. If anyone knows why this happened, or how I can get in touch with Bungie about it, that would be much appreciated. I don't want to feel like I wasted my money for no reason.

  • For those of you with PS4, Bungie was very proactive with the multiplayer in the Halo series to weed out cheaters. They used the "Banhammer" against those players that used lag switches to gain advantage in MP games. They also banned those that quit out of games too often to avoid negative K/D rations, etc. The ban was for a set period of time and usually would expire after a week or two. Although the system did ferret out the cheats, it also caused problems for those with less than stellar connections. Hopefully Bungie will update the Banhammer (including Microsoft in the info shows a lack of attention for customer service) so that it is compatible with an open world game.

Permanent account bans are only implemented with rigorous checking to ensure that the innocent are not punished alongside the guilty.[/quote] lol, by "rigorous" i think they mean the software. no way they are "rigorous"ly checking. maybe they might see some instances where the code has flagged someones IP or generated a report of any others connected to the lobby. Many computer programmers are lazy so this is probably why they wouldn't check the software. They believe they are infallible.

      • Bungie's ban policy says you wont be banned just for simply playing the game, which is all I was doing. I really don't understand why this happened, and I've searched all over the website how to contact Bungie and am coming up with nothing. Does anyone know a number for technical support or anything?

      • I'm in exactly the same position. No hacked console, not even a headset so I couldn't of abused anyone. Can't even switch accounts as it must be an IP ban. How can they say they have vigorous checks if this has happened. My online I'd is BADWOLF-42 but I'm sure the similar name is coincidental. Only started playing on Friday

        • Same thing happened to me last night. I was playing with a friend and it kicked me. Tried to log back in and I was banned. I have no idea how this could be possible

          Have your changed your Mbps down on your router wireless radio? Sometimes this can improve range but can slow your connection and cause lag issues. If not don't worry about the last point. But if anyone has I would say keep it at the highest for performance and wait for bungie to work a fix for the disconnections. They require you to have a fast connection so the people on fibre and quick connections are having most of the trouble. Good luck with the ban though. Do contact Microsoft or Sony and they do have a higher department you can speak to and they do have regular contact with game developers. I know this because I knew someone who was unbanned for something they didn't do as well. Just put your foot down on the chat support they will say I will document this and put it to the higher department.

              • Am in the same boat as you. I was playing last night when I made a new guardian and out of no where it kicks me off, I thought it was that there was a network error so I tried to login and a message pops up telling me that my account has been banned. I to have been searching for the answer to see what had happen but only came up with a phone number, a twiiter atvi assistant and a web site to go to to make a ticket to talk to someone.

                • Feel bad for all you guys. Thought my friend got banned last night for awhile because he has bad internets and the lag eats bullets for him sometimes in pvp. He's been accused of hacking but his Internet is just THAT bad. How is your connection speed?

I can't seem to get any response other than a generic email telling me to contact "Microsoft Customer Support", but taking into account that I own a PS4.. I don't see how their 2012 email reply for Halo: Reach is of any use now.. Unfortunately.. They don't write you back… ever..

                • I'll be honest with you... You must of done something that the game was not intended for.. I'm sure bungie just doesn't ban people for nothing. It may have something you done earlier not necessarily to with that strike mission..
