Socialization and Communication Tools Needed to Improve Destiny

So I am enjoying the game but the big push for "social interaction" and that "MMO" feel is one of the biggest issues in Destiny currently. Its built to penalize you (or challenge you as I think of it) for playing alone yet the tools to effectively group with people outside of strikes DOES NOT EXIST. The thing I believe will most improve Destiny is to provide better communication tools. No match making choice for story missions? WHY NOT!!!!!! This is the number one way to get to know people who play Destiny and to expand your pool of friends in the game. There should be the option to be able to either go solo, go with friends only and queue so that a query can ping online friends, or be placed into the match making system so that you can tackle the story WITH A RANDOM FIRE TEAM just like you do for strikes. The same options should be available for patrols so that bounty and event hunting is done easier. And this brings up the whole "you have to be on the friends list" BS for raids. While you should NOT be in a raid without a mic, that is really the only requirement to be enforced. By either eliminating player freedom or NOT PROVIDING THE BASIC TOOLS FOR COMMUNICATION you, Bungie, will utterly fail in your promise to deliver a "social" experience in Destiny. On console you don't have a chat window and keyboard so voice is the prime communication tool and it needs to be USED BROADLY NOT RESTRICTIVELY if any true socialization will ever occur here. Console communication is already very poor and I do get why you wouldn't enable voice chat for PvP parties unless they are on your friends list (let's face it, players in PvP are NOT very forgiving of scrubs, like me, that like PvP but suck at it), but not doing so across the board for PvE is really, REALLY poor design. Also this bar to entry for raids is really not okay. Anyone purchasing the game should be able to access all content even with an empty friends list. Imagine if a PC gamer has decided to pick up an XBO or PS4 to join in the fun of Destiny, has a lot of PC MMO raiding experience and wants to raid but has no friends on XBL or PSN+. Now they can try to make friends doing just strikes but that is a THIN slice of access to communication. They could randomly invite people to play when they are in the Tower, but how likely are people to do that or accept the invitation? Not likely by my observation and estimation. So now you have taken the pinnacle of challenge in your game and removed it from this person who paid full price for the game. They paid for the raid content but can't access it. Sounds pretty silly to me. And if its due to difficulty, just warn them, scan to ensure they have a mic available and let the players sort it out. This wall is NOT NEEDED IN ANY WAY AND ONLY SERVES TO RESTRICT PLAYERS UNNECESSARILY. My list of what I would LOVE to see added: - More and deeper story (which I know should be forthcoming) - More PvP maps and mode variety (also coming) - UNIVERSAL use of match making for any PvE activity with full communication tools regardless of friends list status or not - Put the ships to use and develop space combat so that ships are something to upgrade and not just interesting loading screen skins - Develop sparrow/pike etc combat for outside of PvP and the moon - Create races for sparrows with and without mixed combat - Create vehicular combat (such as tanks, etc) for use in PvE and PvP in specific and controlled circumstances - Introduce more mob variety and AI instead of just numbers and mixes of the same or vary similar types (its plenty for just the 12 to 15 hours of story but not enough for grinding to feel less grindy, unless of course events will mix it up enough for people - Kick the open world events into gear and make that more accessible and common place - Create a firing range and allow players to test guns so that they can better determine whether or not they will ever use the weapon rather than solely basing this decision on stats comparison before dismantling the weapon Okay I think I am done and have made my points :D PS - Improve loot drops and chest availability. Running around for 30 seconds after finishing a story quest only to find nothing is not rewarding. Being given a generic item to turn in is fine but even that is uneven. Make the boss of an area DROP SOMETHING, anything and don't have it be 200 glimmer from the Cryptarch. The glimmer should drop on the boss and and an engram should drop of some random variety. - Also make it clear how and why people earn drops in PvP. Right now it appears to be totally random and meaningless. - Penalize people who drop from PvP matches. I see people drop when we are as little as 100 points behind because they are getting their butt kicked and soon we are like 1000 points behind because its now 6 on 3. You really need to address this. - Also make the equalization formulas available. I know that we are "supposed" to have equal defense and do even damage but that is NOT holding true and gear should matter - and if it does then fix your match making and let people know how it operates so that they can figure out how to perform better in PvP instead of just getting pissed.
