Me and a few friends were discussing this, we are all 20+ with close to 20k in glimmer because there's nothing to buy! All the legendary gear from vendors costs alternate currency (motes of light, coins, etc.) I don't need another ship, or a shader, and the weaponsmith/Cryptarch sells junk.
I think it would be a good idea to be able to buy materials. Spend glimmer to get a strange coin, or weapon parts, or Spinmetal. Or start having the vendors sell worthwhile stuff daily.

The Cryptarch is like the Speedway Rewards of the Destiny Universe.

They need to up how much glimmer you can hold at any one time, 25k just doesn't cut it. I am buying ships/sparrows just so I can have enemy drops decoded by the Cryptarc. At this rate all my slots will be full of stuff I don't want or need.

Agreed, i think there should be more consumables to purchase, there should be a materials store to upgrade weapons and gear
-
Buy ammo packs. I promise you will need them in the raid. But I do agree, there should be something more to dump glimmer on though I have no clue what that could be.
-
I had to pay 12500 glimmer to complete My exotic bounty
-
Buy ammo packs, you can get them for primary, special, and heavy weapons. You use it from your inventory and it maxes out your ammo. They come in handy every once in a while.

When you get to a new level the post master will give you a message filled with possible legendary engram's. But to be honest, you should be able to buy the consumables.

It would be cool to gamble. Add a tavern thrown in some games and have a prize booth that sells semi-useful stuff. As of right now I can't really do anything. I'm guessing the Crucible was suppose to be the filler for when you run out daily things to do and that's turned into a heaping pile of dung. So give me something else to capture my attention like gambling.

An auction house is needed.... An economy is what makes a mmo with loot drops worth having a digital currency in the first place.
-
I was buying green engrams from the Cryptarch for weapon parts, hadronic essence, the occasional blue and Cryptarch rank but since last night the Cryptarch only seems to offer common items. Did they nerf him?
-
Edited by MLGxJ0SHUA: 9/17/2014 2:26:00 PMI wish they would add legendary & exotic engrams. I would EASILY pay 15-25k for those. But put a cap so you could only buy 1 per week (exotic) 2-3 (legendary) or make them super rare cryptarch rotations.

Hey guys. I agree that there is a problem with nothing to spend glimmer on (cryptarch is going to get really -blam!-ing boring) I personally think this.... I miss forge terribly. So put forge back in destiny like the good ol halo days and charge glimmer for props. Custom maps for crucible added. Boom.

I want to buy a new ghost!

I totally agree

An in game marketplace would be a great place to start. Just saying.

Edited by Seth9977: 9/18/2014 6:16:41 AMJust give it to the Gunsmith until you have 20 of each ammo type. Then take some over to the cryptarch to blow on crappy equipment which you can turn into materials. That's all I do. I don't need a ship since I can find them in loot caches, I don't want any of the emblems / shaders from the outfitter, and I'm not too intrested in the other faction weapons to blow on a class item. Speaking of which, maybe if the damn outfitter had some different shaders when the stock refreshed..

-blam!- buying shit. ...get some battery acid and some pseudo and let's smoke some Glimmer Meth
-
Worthwhile stuff?! From the Cryptarch?! *gasp!!*
-
I agree im tired of playing games with useless vendors. borderlands more money than you can spend and all the guns do 100 dmg and are white... destiny should scale or have random legendary stock or at least bounties to get better vendor options. totally agree.

You keep buying green engrams at the cryptarch over and over to boost your rank which will help improve your chance of getting better loot when you decrypt the engrams. Every time you level up you get a reward at the mailbox and you'll start getting legendary items as well and maybe exotic once a high enough lvl.

Edited by sennan: 9/17/2014 4:22:07 AMMake it rain at the Cryptarch - that farken guy loves all the glimmer.
-
well Glimmer is used normal in the upgrade of weapons and gear. its also needed to buy the more powerful and expensive stuff from vendors. Then there's the ammo refill things that you can buy from the gunsmith, pretty handy in tight spots where you cant reach dropped ammo without being killed. I read that you can buy weapon parts from the gunsmith but every time I checked he never has any.
-
Use your glimmer on engrams even if you don't need them, the more you buy the more your Cryptarch rank will go up, every rank after 3 the Cryptarch gives you free rare and legendary engrams and stuff
-
Or buy emblems and shaders
-
Glimmer should be left alone. You can't buy your way through progression by design. It's a core reason there's no trading, no auction houses, or any player driven economy to speak of. The limitation is deliberate by design. It forces players into the content if they want to obtain a goal. If you provide a route to players that circumvents the content required to progress, you're literally removing that content from their play experience. Yes, you have to do the content to get the materials to upgrade whatever it is your looking to upgrade. That's how the game creates the incentives to play it. Glimmer is just not that important to progression, and that's a good thing.

I've been stockpiling the ammo refills that you can buy from the gunsmith. I know in a lot of the places you can get enough ammo, but I get the feeling you'll need them for raiding if you plan on doing that.
