Why pick a Faction?

Going through the Faction Vendors, they all basically seem to be the same stuff. So besides the different looks, what's the point? Am I missing something?

  • as Gemlem mentioned, they provide small differences between weapons stats : Dead Orbit: DIS/STR (Melee and Grenades) Future War Cult: INT/DIS (Grenades and Super) New Monarchy: INT/STR (Super and Melee) via : http://destinynews.net/faction-right/ on a side note, they also have a different background in the Destiny's story so you may join one of them based on this. However I don't know if this choice will impact your character in the future DLC/games.

    • Not sure how to "join" but I was going to buy & wear a cloak from Dead Orbit only because of Peter Stormare's voice work- but then noticed all crucible rep goes towards their standing rep with you, and not your crucible rep (and I only just now got to level 1). I'll wait until I see more perks.

      • dummy has it right. minus the typo saying weapon (it's armor) stats. each faction has a legendary class specific you can buy that converts all would be vanguard rep to rep for that faction. which is how you go about unlocking their armory. you can level up each faction one at a time this way. as you please

      • I am a little confused as if I wear the faction piece will I still earn the vanguard and crucible rep as well as the faction rep ? Or am I only able to earn only that factions rep while wearing it and nothing else if that makes any sense ha

      • It would be better if they had ranking and stats checking on each faction. That way we can see who chose what faction and how well each one is doing in pvp and pve

        • Somebody here said the factions take Vanguard marks but I have only seen where they take crucible marks. Is this true? And why not just go with Vanguard armor is the faction stuff better?

          • How the heck do I even get Faction armor and reputation if I'm supposed to complete missions while wearing their gear? It sounds a little counter intuitive to me. Is there some other way I get their gear?

            • Look a little closer, their armor pieces boost different stat combination so if you're looking for a certain build, like mostly boosting INT and STR, or DISC and INT you will choose one based on what they offer.

            • Not really it's mostly an aesthetic choice. But some of them sell weapons others don't FWC has a hand cannon and no assault rifle.

Each faction focuses on a different type of combat/damage/weapond type. Look at the special faction weapond details and read the upgrades. Note the stats too. If your a stats guy it will make more sense. Nto to mention their items are very collectable and stylish! Lol

              • If youre unlucky like me it will be the only way you'll get legendary gear. If it wasn't for this stupid ass weekly crucible cap I could have bought a full set from FWC.

              • I guess just to give you some options. They will not be huge, so mostly cosmetic and some minimal differences in stats or type of weapons they sell.
