Grimoire is Not an Effective Way of Storytelling

I feel this is the same problem that the Halo games had, was that there was never any explanation to anything that was ever happening in the story. Good storytelling involves actually telling a story, not expecting people to find it all out through cards online. I have no problem with the existence of Grimoire, I absolutely love delving into lore, but what is actually present in the game is really shallow. I have no reason to want to connect with my character. The only information I'm given about 'The Last Safe City' (other than the very small tower area filled with vendors and nothing else) is that it exists. Like, really that's all. Are there people living there other than Guardians? It's implied, but how am I supposed to fight for people who, to me, are never even seen or mentioned? I know that there is more story to come but I'm kind of scared by the lack of depth I've been presented with so far. I really want to like Destiny, and it may be a superbly polished game with awesome loot I can't enjoy something so... hollow. Sorry if this was too rambly. Thoughts?

 • I can't even use it because it's some Web 2.0 garbage that has to be rendered 3D instead of just showing the information normally like any other thing would. Guess what Bungie? I got a console because my laptop sucks. Making me use the pathetic integrated graphics card to get story information is STUPID. What the hell is wrong with you guys?
