Grimoire

Does anyone know what the Grimoire cards do and how they help us in destiny? I achieve a lot with them but idk how they benefit us in the game itself. Can someone please explain this to me in patience.

Some cards give bonuses to xp, glimmer, resource collection etc. all bonuses are account wide once you meet the requirements.
