Connectivity issues not on player's end

Hi, Bungie and community. (IMPORTANT EDIT): I had the Playstation App on my iPhone 4s installed, connected to my network's wifi and paired with my PS4 by default. On a complete whim, I remembered how the Steam and Skype apps tend to make the PC programs wonky when used simultaneously, so I uninstalled the Playstation App - I am now 40 minutes without errors. Did a full strike, got more levels, more gear, visited the tower and am now 2 more story chapters in the game. Could be a coincidence and maybe Bungie fixed something... or maybe the problem is just lololtechnology. If you have the Playstation App on any devices, try uninstalling it and see what happens. ^Followup: It's been two hours and not a single error since uninstalling the Playstation App from my iPhone. I haven't seen Bungie mentioning any glorious fixes to their network, so I wonder if Destiny and PSN are having issues when paired companion devices are involved. This doesn't explain problems on Xbox systems, though. -ORIGINAL POST:- (EDIT): I am not on any campus infrastructure. My network is connected from a house exclusively to the closest pole. There is no shared connection, hotspot access, network homegroup or otherwise administrative complexities in the network. A Windows PC, an iPhone 4s and a PS4 are the only devices with access to the network at any given time and only the iPhone 4s is wireless. My ISP is Surewest/Consolidated Communications. . Just wanted to report that tonight has been my first experience with constant disconnections after two days of solid, uninterrupted gameplay (Up to level 12 without a single error.) Connectivity is so unstable that I'm being booted from the game within minutes of gameplay. Speedtest.net suggests no service problems with internet. PS4 internet test feature reads all systems nominal. PS4 is wired directly to a modem and the modem has been cycled multiple times. All other games and services work fine - To be utterly certain, I streamed Netflix in 1080p and played League of Legends at 40ms latency at the same time with not even a hiccup while Destiny continued to disconnect (This was done using a 10mbps connection that's more than capable of multiplayer gaming, stability confirmed via multiple speedtests and an ISP support call). To emphasize this is a matter for Bungie to investigate, the 1080p Netflix streaming was done on the same PS4 that Destiny is disconnecting on. Again, note that this problem has not been occurring for the prior 48 hours up until now, and nothing about my network, modem or console has changed in that 48 hours. Thanks for your time. Hope this gets sorted quickly. (EDIT): Bungie's probably running in circles about this. If people having this problem try to describe their networks in their posts, Bungie might be able to test more precise environments and find the problem faster. (EDIT): Just noticed the PSN went down entirely as of about 3PM Pacific time on 9/13. Maybe related?

    I doubt that all of those Port opening an NAT stuff will help anything. As far as I know that was Bungies suggestion to deal with the centipede error (correct me if I'm wrong here). That means all other errors such as bee, lion, hare etc must have other origins. Otherwise Bungie wouldn't have made the suggestion only for that specific error.

      Welcome to the club sadly enough, I've had the game since release and only been able to play for like 2-3hours in total. Longest session being 20-30min, otherwise it's more like 0-5min. I could have been lvl 20+ something if the game would let me play!! Everything on my end seems to be OK. Followd every instuction but still nothing and now they tell me that a "Patch" is coming Monday for the network issues at Universities... but is this going to help the people at HOME? We don't know. All I know is on the box it says: "Certain Destiny gameplay and functionalty requires a subscription to Xbox Live Gold." and at the back it says: "Internet connection required..." I have both of these and it still doens't work. Nowhere on the box it says that you have to be able to change network settings or need a specific type of internet/modem/router... Bungie this is ridiculous please... I love your game and want to play it more than a few minutes in a row before getting kicked evey time.

        • Same problem running on XBOX ONE,. keep getting disconnected and there is nothing wrong with my router or my connection I feel like im playing Defiance and getting deconnected every 2 minutes. come on Bungie you learned from Halo all these years this should not have been a problem.

          • It's been happening to me since Wednesday. Damn, it's like a zoo here! Maybe Destiny's actually an RNG for animal names, because I'm pretty sure I don't have 5 different errors within seconds of each other.. I really hope this stuff gets addressed in the next weekly update, because how am I supposed to enjoy a game I can't even play? The fact that when I search up error codes that have no specific explanation don't help, either. Closing the game and restarting my PS4 is beginning to become second nature to me.

          • Same problem. Network tested and fault finding done as described in help.bungie forums. Non to avail. Problem is on their side. All my online games are working fine. Streaming perfectly from Netflix on my US account. My network setup is a Business uncapped 10mbs line with x2 desktop PC a server a ASUS router ($$$) with a gigabit switch and then having my PS4 and smart TV connected. Everything is wired apart from cellphones,tablets and netbook. Even with constant down/uploads on the network I am able to stream from Netflix, thus latency not the problem and surely if there was some sort of network problem it would have surfaced. Everything points to server issues on Destiny/Bungie's side and I just wish they would be more open around it and have better communication in regards to what is being done + ETA for fixing the problems.

            Same here on xbox one: gamertag, sweedy tweedy . Microsoft assured me that the detailed network check on the one all the specs were above average and since when I get disconnected it doesn't sign me out of xbox live or the party so it's not a network issue, they said it must be a game server issue as I was playing yesterday from around 4pm gmt to around 8am the following morning without any problems other than not being able to hold a fire team together for more than an hour but not one disconnection, but today every 5-10 mins for the past 4 hours it's ridiculous it's been happening like this for a while now one day on one day off. I've noticed the even though bungie say it helps to have a fast or fastest connection, it is people with a faster connection who are having the problems, I know about 3 people who are on 30mb and haven't had a problem, I was on 30mb on the beta and didn't have a problem what so ever then I upgraded my internet to virgin media's up to 152mb package and since then destiny has been that bad it's unplayable most of the time. You do the math because I'm dumb founded.

          • Same here, Xbox360. My end is fine. Xbox ports opened and connection stable. Really annoying, kills the experience. Good game hope they sort soon. Also finding ios app keeps crashing. I didn't have any of these issues with the beta.

            I'm experiencing the same problem as well on PS4, but I can't go more than 2-3 minutes every single time without getting disconnected and I'm only on level 2 and Earth and because of this it makes me unplayable. Also, I know for a fact its not my internet connection because all other PS4 games, PSN, My MacBook Pro, samsung Galaxy S5, and 2014 Samsung Smart TV work perfectly at all times connected to the same network. Also I stream Netflix and Hulu Plus in 1080P on the same PS4 that keeps disconnecting me from the game and on the Samsung Smart TV and I have no connection or streaming problem at all when doing so.

          • I sadly have the same problem. First two days of playing i had absolutely no connection issues. Third day (today) i played a good 8 hours interrupted, even played crucible and did two strikes and a few story missions with a friend joining my fire team. Attempted to do a story mission on Venus with my friend, was in there for 2 minutes before getting disconnected with the error code "Groundhog". Tried several more times with the same problem. Checked my connection via Xbox one network settings, everything is optimal. Looked up the fix, and attempted it. NAT type is open, always has been, correct ports are forwarded, also always have been. Now tried to travel to the Tower and other available places and getting disconnected with the error code "Coconut" and "Centipede" Restarted Xbox. Restarted Destiny. Restarted Internet Connection. Restarted Modem. The problem persists. My internet connection is perfect, i have never had a problem with it, and my router is less than a year old. What i don't understand is how i could play 24+ hours of this game with absolutely no connection problems, and then despite nothing being changed on my end, completely out of the blue i get -blam!- with disconnections to the point where i can't even play the game? This makes me sad. I really hope Bungie finds a solution to everyone's connection problems. I have enjoyed this game a lot so far, and would be upset if my experience ends this way.

          • from day one i've been kicked from servers and disconnect from xbox live and had to have gotten all the error codes you could get and no its not me or my isp destiny has to hate me p.s. done everything they suggested to fix it

          • I have been booted 4 times in the last hour, I wouldn't mind but my every time I have been booted my team was actually winning. Then when I'm loosing the stupid game wont kick me ........ I really think this game or Bungie hate me lol.

          • I know this is posted a lot already, just wanted to add my experience with the server connectivity issue: I only but constantly get kicked off when I enter "Tower" area. Coop with Party and non Party Fireteam and SP could be played fine without any issues (well once, but ok). It only occurs in the central hub. Every 1 out of 6 tries it works fine to enter Tower or at least long enough to progress with the game, extremely annoying nonetheless. Problem shouldn't be at my end, because I could talk with my xbox party all the time before, during and after the server issues and disconnects happened.

            • I am having new errors today after moving from wireless to a wired connection and seems to happen every couple of hours. My newly hated fauna is "lion" and I have gone to HUGE lengths to get this to work - end result is a totally separate public IP (no firewall and no router) and I STILL get errors that CANNOT be on my end. My connection is rock solid with 0% packet loss, 11.76 Mbps down/3.85 Mbps Up and 9 ms latency. What is the deal with this stuff? I really feel for those who have yet to connect at all. And it appears that the wireless connector (for XBO I know this for certain) CANNOT handle the data demand for Destiny. If you can, the only real way to solve this is to move to a wired connection. If this still is not working and you have NAT1 or NAT2 or no NAT (direct modem connection) and all ports forwarded properly (actually NAT3 with forwarding should NOT be an issue) then its 99.% that its a problem on Bungie's end.

            • same here just started happening today(hit level 12) and had no issues since launch.it only seems to happen wen I join with a fireteam or connect my mic.giving various codes:Canary, baboon(multiple times), dogfight.and not on my end as been having no other gaming related and test showing good connections. took advice of reinstalling from friend holding for now but only one hr into gaming. bungie needs to look before they lose gamers.if continues i'm going back to diablo.

            • I too have even having issues with the connection. I doubt it is my internet but I did direct link to my modem and that helped a little bit now I can play a little bit before being disconnected. Please stabilize your servers!

              • I almost thought hte problem was solved since the topics regarding connectivity issues were going back in the forums. I also have countless error codes while playing. Sometimes it let's me play through an entire mission without a disconnect, sometimes the game boots me up so often I turn it off to prevent me from throwing my PS 4 out the window. Still sad but at least I know that I'm not the only one who's still facing these problems. I really hope they get this fixed...
