The Cabal - Why do they have so minor a presence in-game, and why isn't there DLC planned for them?

They are by far the most interesting enemy in the game. I spent the entire game fighting off glorified bandits and Sentinels, then I get to face the enemy I waited the entire game for; the Cabal, an industrious and powerful alien empire, and the only enemy faction in the game that is capable of wiping out humanity. I thought to myself "Hot damn I'm about to get some serious action here!" Except I wasn't. I got three missions of intense fighting, and then nothing. Sure there's a Strike, but that's it. Other than the Vex, the Cabal were the only other faction worthy of being the main antagonists. They had menace; they had ferocity. Nothing in the game had that "Oh shit" moment like the first time I fought a Colossus-class Cabal, spraying mini-gun rounds everywhere while firing missile barrages from the rocket pods on it's back. They're interesting to fight, and actually provide a challenge. We get a slight glimpse of their interesting backstory; they have planet-busting weapons, and have a vast empire spanning multiple planets. And then we get nothing; no elaboration, no further backstory, nothing. Bungie waved a delicious chocolate bar in front of us, only to pull it back when we came in to bite it. They showed us a vast and menacing military empire capable of obliterating humanity, but that's it; a show, nothing more. All we truly got was a mere glimpse of what could have been the most satisfying enemy in the game. Am I the only one who was disappointed by the lack of backstory regarding them and the Hive? They're the only two species known to actually kill Guardians with ease, and yet all we get is a few missions while the Fallen and the Vex get all of the spotlight. I would very much like to see DLC expanding upon the Cabal and Mars itself.
