Today officially marked the end of the darkness we've endured since the last grip Bungie had on Halo was handed over to 343i. It has been a long and hard journey marked with good times and bad. We've endured monsters like Rose and Warmaster; and strife and hatred with both the new fans and ourselves, but we survived nonetheless. We've lost a lot of good people since this period began; some left as their time had come, others to an offsite to escape the darkness that was swallowing up this site, and we have most likely lost a few to the dangers of life. Some of us have been around since the days of Halo, and count ourselves among the veterans of this site. A select few have been around since the genesis of Halo, and some even before that. Some of us just joined one or two years ago; maybe even less. But regardless, we almost all share a similar cause; our love of this community and the company that created it. Most of this forum despises #Destiny; something that we shouldn't do. Very few of you didn't start off as a retarded Halo fanboy; most of you were Reachtards, a good few of you were Threetards, and some of you were even Halo CE and Halo 2 fanboys. We all started off on this site as newfomans; bear that in mind. Our job should be to haze the new guys a decent bit, sure. But we need to also show restraint; this is a transition point. Our job as the veteran Bungie fans is not to try and wipe out their newest batch of fans; but to guide them, to teach them, to help them along this great and daunting path we have all embarked upon now. We might not like them, and they might not like us; but we need to set aside our differences and help each other. When each of you had just joined this site, what did you receive? A warm and welcoming community of experienced gamers, or a cold and unwelcoming group of jackasses? Which would you have wanted? My fellow Floodians; this is the start of a fantastic new mission. We are all that remains of the old community. We are about to know what the Marathon fans felt like when we first showed up as inexperienced newbies; blissfully unaware of the journey we ourselves were about to embark upon. I've been through a lot of shit this year; most of it offline, but some of it on here as well. This is a clean slate for all us, a fresh start. Its a new day Flood; and its time to decide how we're going to spend it. Are we going to tolerate people like Warmaster and Rose ruling our site, and wallow in our sadness that the past is just that; the past? Or are we going to enjoy the beautiful gift we've been given; a brand new franchise and a wild new frontier for us to conquer? I have created a group to act as a community hub for this new game, so if you're the leader or founder of a group or a clan, contact me.
