Does anyone know what the different symbols are on the map? I have tried to figure them out, but have been unable to.
Here is an example:
I have the same symbol on the two missions, Restoration & The Dark Within. The symbol is a center star with branches around it.
I have just a star on the mission The Warmind.
I thought there might be different symbols if you completed the mission on Hard or Normal, but that doesn't seem to fit.
I do know there are different symbols for the Patrol mission and the Strike mission, but I can't figure out the difference in the star symbol and the star with branches. Any help would be great. Thanks

What are the two symbols on the top corners of the map screen that shows the planets and the Dreadnaught?

I'm curious about the quest markers. Somelook like a target circle aand others have TTK symbol (that one seems obvious), what do they mean, or is it just to make me ask stupid questions?
-
The fancy ones are the main story. The circle ones are sorta like side quests. They don't follow the main story.

I am pretty sure that the large mission symbols were mandatory for continuing the story during your first play through, while the smaller missions were optional. I figured this out when my fiancé managed to skip over one of the missions on Earth entirely and didn't notice it until reaching Venus.

The ones with branches are main storyline missions. The others are technically side quests because they don't unlock any new missions when you do them.

Ive been wondering this is well. For what its worth it was slightly different in the beta as "the dark within" was the only mission on earth that had the star with branches. The other missions just had the star. And from what I can tell nothing significant has changed as far as the missions go. They play exactly as they did during the beta. Something has to be different though, because the symbols changed a bit. Maybe something like a global average of how people did on the missions perhaps? I thought the star with branches signified spawn point during the beta, and really thought I figured it out, but now I find thats not the case. It'd be nice to get an official answer.

Edited by Titan Commandant: 9/11/2014 12:28:23 AMFrom what I've gathered doing patrols -The Symbol with the Star in a Circle are VIP killing missions, you must kill a specific Target. -The Triangle with a Line in it. You must collect certain items from certain enemies, click the details button to figure out which enemy specifically. -The Symbol that looks like a Engine prop from a plane is a Survey mission. Basically someone wants you to stand on a specific point for a period of time to "survey" it -The Symbol that looks like an exploding ghost is a mission where you have to scan a room. You'll go there & your ghost will take full room pictures. Again, these are symbols from patrolling. Public Event Symbols. When a public event occurs (clap of thunder, darkening skies, ghost saying something, orange mission banner popping up) look for a blue symbol on your HUD...that's where you need to go...DO NOT RELY ON ATMOSPHERE ANIMATIONS., ie, ship flying over head. They're just there for effect, the event can happen anywhere, look for the dark blue HUD Icon. That's my take so far.

As i understand it... the BIG Symbols with start and so on are the main story missions and the other smaller are a part of the story but not as importand ? No no... MAYBE its that the BIG Missions give special reward (Armor / Weapon Upgrade... check that out)

I would really like to know also. There has to be a meaning for the differences
